Re: Is Cos-Ducru '10 release beginning of the end for Bordeaux?

Both 2009 Cos and Ducru are (like most 2009s) widely available here for their initial release prices. With RP's reviews down or equal, and these wines not selling their 2009 and being widely criticized for their pricing, a slight step lower may help but is probably not enough to stimulate sales. I'v...

I've enjoyed visiting (my sister used to live there). As I recall the world class ski resorts were a long drive or several train connections away, but fairly accessible. Nice culture and living standards, and certainly tourist sites. My sister ultimately returned to the States to be closer to family...

I'm amazed prices are as high as they are now for recent-release Lafite and 1sts; it is beyond my comprehension and values. Still, I can see the value if I was in a position of wanting to impress someone that represented millions in potential business.....

Re: I am calling for a boycott of the 2010 Bordeaux vintage.

All these posts of silly priced wine has me frustrated. So I just bought a 6-pack of 2008 Anderson's Conn Valley Cab. Reserve for $65 per bottle, 98 point RP. I've tasted and have older vintages of this, plus the Eloge, and find these to be just stunning, long lived wines (and fair values for a Napa...

Re: Is 2009 a "bargain"?

I bought 2005 Branaire futures for $51. Most if not many 2005s escalated in price over the course of the campaign in response to strong demand....partly because of a strong economy, partly because most reviewers came out with 3 reviews (barrel, bottle, and release). It's now for sale for $70-90ish. ...

I bought four and a half cases ealy on of 2009s...Pontet Canet, Montrose, Poyferre, Duhart and Pavie Macquin. They were expensive, but became more expensive not long after (so no, even though the price has a small apparent rise, it is no bargain). I've resisted the urge to buy more, but will probabl...

Re: I am calling for a boycott of the 2010 Bordeaux vintage.

Like others, I get some satisfaction out of knowing I paid a fair value for purchases. It is ever more apparent that --- for whatever reasons --- many of the 2010 Bordeaux don't offer good value compared to many products coming out of Washington State, and compared to relatively recent Bordeaux vint...

This is still a good vale compaed to first growths, super seconds and a few other premium world class wines in the world. However, compared to 99.99 percent of wines produced it is very overpriced. With approximately 12 cases in the cellar from 1996-2005 (and an early case order of 2009 at $109) I'm...

It IS a world wide market.....but just because demand could increase doesn't necessarily mean prices will go up.....there's been large increases in supply of quality wines. My guess is that the high quality 2010 vintage has had a dampening impact on sales of 2009s (because it takes away from the &qu...

Werner - how do you want to gather the "tasting" wines and allow for proper decant or slow-ox (Auduze)? Eg is this something we should do on an individual basis with the tasting wines, could we bring them to Ed's on Friday, take them to the restaurant early Saturday...or..?

I can empathize with both of you with the New Hampshire change (and Stefan's supplier also exiting the business). Costco also decided to exit the Bordeaux classed growth market.
