Re: 2003 Duhart Singing

I recall RP put a tasting note on the ERP forum rating this 94 and a strong buy, a week or so before the wine speculator came out ( as Jim How. mentions above) with Duhart and a few other wines on the cover in the feature article of sub $50 bargains. By the time the issue was released to the public,...

My purchases were slim for ‘16s, due to an overfull cellar. 6 bottles of Vieux Chateau Certan, and 6 Leoville Barton. My big purchase this year was a cellar of about 300 bottles of mostly ‘87-‘ 89, with a mix of Bordeaux 1st and 2nd growth, California, Washington, Burgs and then a few bottles from t...

Re: TN 1996 Ch. Leoville Poyferre, or accidents will happen

Leoville Poyferre is one of my favorites. They seem to be made in a slightly more modern style, but I enjoy them with age, and still have a few 89-point RP 1989s in the cellar (I may have shared one with Nic when he was in Seattle some time ago).

I am out. I have a legal question. Vendors say that when you buy wine that the title passes to you before they deli...

I had my in-stock wine shipped (only 3 bottles, but at least that creates room in their warehouse to store more of those incoming container shipments). The 2005 Angelus was my WOTN at the UGC tasting back in early 2007. For my tastes this isn't something I would drink every night, but I thought it was stunning at the time. I've been dipping into many 2005s, but not the bigger guns yet.

Dark ruby. Forest floor and classy French oak with light char on the nose. Rounded berries, mix of sourness that marks a cooler vintage, with ripe cherries. Somewhat short in mid-palette, with a long, sour, somewhat drying finish. I enjoyed this, it was grapey, fresh, and IMO should improve as the d...

Hi pomilion - the 2006 shows a lot of power now, but seemed to evolve more quickly in glass than the 1998, and various elements seemed to poke out (e.g. at various times the alcohol, or the fruit, or the acidity, seemed to predominate). I bought at $108. I wouldn't buy at $200+. If it is for consumption and doesn't have to make perfect economic sense, then I'm sure you can find comparisons to Napa cult cabs or First Growths that says $210 is a value. But there are a lot of very good wines for much less.
