Re: Bordeaux Vs. Shiraz

Pardon me. I am a lurker and enjoy some of the banters here.
But to degrade Aussie's wine is not what we as wine lover should do.
To each of his own. There are people who appreciate and like wines made in the styles of the Aussies.
We don't have to diss them just because it is not to our liking.

Re: I am calling for a boycott of the 2010 Bordeaux vintage.

Hi Claudius, Did u receive any offers from Crystalwines through email? I bought quite a bit for 2009 but have totally given up on 2010. Good offer or not we have to make a stand now or else we will continue to be slapped with ridiculous price increase as every other vintages being touted as the vint...

Re: I am calling for a boycott of the 2010 Bordeaux vintage.

Look like the bordelais did well with EP2009. However if they think they can charge whatever they want for EP2010 and expects us to accept it then to hell with them. I can sense that in Singapore the EP2010 is not moving well. I keep getting offers from wine merchants giving "private offers' to...

Hi Alex,

I am based in the hotspot of Asia, Singapore where prices of everything are going north.

Cheers,

Re: Bordeaux, Parker, etc... It's all becoming irrelevant to me.

Hi Alex,

Its unfortunate that in this part of the world (Asia), the back vintages are not much cheaper.

Agree that we probably have to wait for bin-end sales to get a decent price.

Re: Bordeaux, Parker, etc... It's all becoming irrelevant to me.

Hi Alex, He did mentioned that prices are high but not mad. He did mentioned that the Asian or rather HK/China factor which is affecting demand and price. But other than that he demonstrate little 'remorse' over his impact on pricing. But is he to be blamed or those who are ITB ? As a self-proclaime...

Re: Bordeaux, Parker, etc... It's all becoming irrelevant to me.

Hi Jim, With all the pent-up frustration over the ridiculous pricing of bordeaux since 2003, I can help but concluding that WA or RP has done more harm than good to people like us. WA is the tool is used by bordelais and negociant to raise their price expecting glowing review from the man. We have m...

Re: Bordeaux, Parker, etc... It's all becoming irrelevant to me.

There will come a day when all the hardcore bordeaux drinkers who have grown up with WA will call it quit and cancel their subscription.

That would be the time where RP realised that being a real wine advocate he should have listened to the calls to hold back his ratings after en primeur. ;)

Re: 2009s selling like hotcakes

Hi Mark (Claudius2),

I am near the Serangoon Garden, not far from the Australian International school.

I bought quite a fair bit from Crystal over the years especially for en primeur as they allow mixed cases.

Cheers,
Roland

Re: 2009s selling like hotcakes

Guys The local Sngapore retailer I ordered 09s from sold out of many wines in a few hours - those receiving igh RP points (they are points buyers here - even restaurants list RP points). And the first tranche of Lafite was only sold on allocation. They only sold me some wines in high demand as I bo...

Re: 2009s selling like hotcakes

Hi guys, Just 2 cents. The Ep sales by UK merchants may not be reflective of what's happening in Asia. There are wine merchants in Asia selling EP. While Singapore is not a representative of Asia - HK, China & Japan, the retailers in Singapore seems to be doing well for the 09 EP. Take a look at...

Re: eBob becomes subscriber-only effective today!

I may be a lurker of that forum and this :D . I find it really interesting (beneficial) to see the reviews of the vintage from Izak, Panos and others. I sense that Bob is feeling that his 'deity' is being challenged as the reviews/notes of 'third party' on the new vintage of the century are being po...
