Looking forward to it. Last time I think it was the Renaissance (Marriott) on Wacker overlooking the Chicago river now across from Trumps new place. Great spot. Have booked the time off so unless something untoward happens will see everyone in Chicago.

Re: Notes from an impressive Chianti tasting
Patrick, Nice review. I basically cut my teeth on Italian wines. starting in the early 90's loading up on chianti's brunellos and super tuscans with a smattering of barolos/barbarescos.My two buddies love the Ducale gold and buy cases of it every year. I agree entirely with you that it is OK but far...

Part 1 2006 Bordeaux....First Growths to Start
Last Thursday I Had the pleasure of enjoying a two part 2006 Bordeaux tasting that started with a limited 20 person first growth tutored tasting the hour before the main tasting sponsored by the LCBO. First why does one of the worlds largest single buyers of wine put on a tasting of this nature at t...

The Ides if March beyond would be great. Just back from a 2006 Bordeaux tasting. First note is an average year. Forget this discussion of a classic Bordeaux year. They either hit the mark or they didn't. Grape growing was not ideal with the typical blending grapes being devistated (petit verdot, cab...

Great notes David. You answered my question from the other thread about the Baron vs Lynch beautifully. At least I'm not losing it when it comes to comparing these two formidable contenders. Looks like everyone had a special treat. How did the Baron hold up to the Lynch this time? Last time I had these two last year I thought the Baron gave a decisive knockout blow. Personally though I felt that way in Chicago years back as well and thought the fix was in! Did Jim even recognize the win...

Nic, Quebec and the rest of the country to a greater or lesser degree use the sale of wine and spirits to subsidize provincial tax revenues. Political and lefty greed/waste is rampant and they have to pay for it somehow. Haven't had and 2006's yet but the LCBO must be sitting on a huge stash of unso...

Great wine David. We've enjoyed a few from our Florida stash. The 97 and 94 were great. Nice to see the 98 drinking well. I must say the 98's that I've had have been good as well however limited to a few like Montelena,Dominus and Caymus.

Morey St Denis Nicolas Potel 2005 went down very nicely with garlic saged roast porc loin this week. Beautiful depth full bodied and dark almost black atypical for most Burgs. A rare commodity here this Summer. d'Aighuile 2004 not as nice as some of the recent vintages(00,03,05 and even 02) with a little lacking in the mid palate but still a very nice well priced Bordeaux that all Bordeaux lovers sho...

Susan,
As of today we'll be there for one room. I don't want a comittment that can't be changed however, if something should come up to prevent travel that we would be locked into this room. The savings aren't that great for two nights to be forced to prepay or commit.
