Re: Wine drinking makes you fat
It's not a difficult formula but it certainly is a difficult one to follow. The more calories you put in the more you have to burn or you'll store the excess as fat. Alcohol provides empty calories that just require more work. If you're like me (and most are) it's a constant battle to keep the weigh...

Thanks for the update. Both were drinking very well last year and no question will be enjoyable for 10+ years. Certainly not the most expensive from the left bank and still very nice wine.

Celebrated the Canadian first rights of Spring at my buddies sugar bush party. Baked ham, beans, pancakes etc drowned in the finest maple syrup a la maison. May not be the most wine friendly venue but a sure sign of Spring in Canada and nothing more traditional, with wholesome food and good friends.Ju...

I agree with everything said above. I'm not a fan of champagne on it's own to acompany a meal/course. If we start with champagne and have some left I'll work it in to a meal but won't plan a meal around it and certainly not sushi. Our go to sushi grape is Albarino from Spain. Celebrity also no limits and food was a step above. Entertainment I think is getting watered down by the...

Jim, The cruise was outstanding for many reasons. The food might not have been the best but the service was great on all fronts. At our regular dining table our waiters and sommolier were second to none. It's interesting how wine friendly some of the cruise lines have become. They won't let you brin...

Re: Some thoughts on Red Burgundy Vintages
All this talk about Pinot Noir would have been irrelavant to me 5 years ago. I never found anything that turned my crank. Burgundies were overe priced, horsey stinky endeavours or lacking fruit or thin with too much acid. Discovered Drouhin Pinot from Oregon about ten years ago but for some reason we...

Alc, Sounds like you've been through Hell! Hope the GPL helped and maybe you'll need some top up on a regular basis from your cellar over the next little while. Rieslingfan, Didn't expect the baseline Jadot to move mountains but with a reviewer giving it a 92pt rating I at least thought that it should give some pleasure and possibly open a window onto how great the 2005 vintage might be. the 1994 Leoville Barton has been exceptional. Way above its class in this vintage. Certainly better than the 98 and very close to the 86. Surprisingly finished third in a vertical recently behind the 90,82 and ahead of the 88,89 and 83.
