Jim,
Thought we saw you a few rows up behind the basket in Cleveland watching the game of TV. The hair and glasses were a give away unless you've got a twin!

Jim, Nice walk down memory lane but just a small sampling. My heart says I'd love to have a go at France 25 but my brain says it's doubtful. We'll see how things unfold over the next months. Spain I must say has been rejuvenating! Feeling much better bur a ways to go yet. Regardless I can still dream.

Nic, I never had any idea that Quebec was known for their crab or sea scallops. Certainly in Ottawa on Quebec's western border we are a long way from Quebec's eastern coast where these must come from. I'll agree with Jay that Maryland's blue crabs are pretty good but Dungeness and king crab are prob...

I'm in the boat that I can find love for many in each one of the appellations. If the question were reworded to which appellation has caused you the most disappointments then I'd agree that St Emilion would be up there for me with the most overdone. disappointments. Nevertheless there are many in th...

Wow Nic that sounds overall like a disappointing review of several right bankers from various vintages. I had always enjoyed La Dominique through the 80s and 90s but like a lot of right bankers I feel many have gone off the rails. At least you had a positives like the 2010 Fonbel and 2000 La Serre b...

Sounds like a winner for that price. If it resembles Calon Segur it could be my kinda wine as well but trying to taper off this stuff unfortunately. Agree fully the 2021 WTSRN was a step above most at this tasting making it a bargain by comparison to most. It was fun chatting with the winemaker whom Jim and I confused with the owner that served us in 2015 at the Chateau when we were on tour who we thought was the winemaker and not the owner. Thi...

Joel, Agree there are better qpr's in Bordeaux than Sassacaia but I must say I've loved it every time I've had it going through cases of the 97-2000 with friends over the years. Great notes and wonderful way to lead into the holidays. David, That's too bad but seems not unexpected from this maybe over hyped vintage. There have been quite a few winners but others like you say have been undrinkable. The 2001 PC is still a youthful baby drinking very well with the 2000 also a beauty but has not opened up quite as much as the 01 at this time. I still think the 2000 in 5 yrs will knock the socks off the 01.

Joel, We virtually popped and poured the 78 Mouton blowing off a little funkiness in the beginning but within minutes this was singing. Nic, Great story. Still tough to make great wines in many places in Canada with native grapes and winter hardy varietals like Marechal Foch. I wouldn't consider MStG to be classic St Emillion and is certainly crafted in a well made modern style. Not over the top and very drinkable but knowing your old school palate I'm not sure this is Blanquito friendly. Try one before you commit to quantity.
