Re: New NYC life chapter, 80s Bordeaux dinner

Hi Jacques and All,

I've attended several BWE dinners in NYC but you all probably don't know me. I am longing for more/another dinner! If you would like to attend a dinner please put it out there and let's put it together!

Thanks,
Tom Rippe

Thanks Jim and jckba. I apologize for assuming this was a BWE dinner. I understand how/what the dinner was. So when's the next dinner!

Re: 1980’s left bank Bdx @ Sutton Inn 9/14

Hi, this is a message for Jim How. I'm sorry to post it here but I'm not proficient on the computer and I can't negotiate the PM function. Hi Jim, I'm not computer proficient so I hope this PM reaches you. My name is Tom Rippe and I've met you several times at BWE events. Ian too and others I would ...

Re: Question re JJ Buckley Wine Co.

Jim, I've been buying from JJ for many years. I've had nothing but good/great customer service. I strongly recommend them. I believe they offer six months free storage. You can sign up for daily emails of, usually, very tempting offers. Somehow, eventually, I don't remember how, you get connected to...

Re: BWE Hurricanes about to hit New York

Hi All, What a great night it was. This thread is most enjoyable and I'll throw in a few thoughts. Thanks for the notes and photos. First, I have to say that my palate had a bit of an off night. These things happen. I found a bit of the wet cardboard nose on the 78 LLC, 78 PL, 88 PL and 89 Cos. Call...

Re: NYC visit 7-8 October

Made the trek to storage today, the only '78 Seconds I have are the Ducru and Pichon Lalande. Ramon, any chance you might have a '78 Second besides the Ducru? If not I'll bring an 86.

I will be there on Saturday, '78's in tow.

Regrettably, I will not be able to make the Barolo dinner on Friday.

Thanks, Tom

Approx. 1975. Purchased a 64 Bonne Mares from Lupe Cholet for $15., I think. Nothing has ever come close.

Thanks to everyone for a great, generous night and thanks to Ian for organizing everything. Ian, I'm not able to post, as requested, as I left my notes in the restaurant, apologies. (these things happen after 20 bottles of wine) So I offer some random thoughts. There were a few surprises for me, the...

Bringing 87 Mouton.

I want to hold back on the Climens. How about a ringer? A Ca. Cab from the 80's? I see your message above about being off message....goes for the Cab too, I would think?

Hi all, I'm Tom from Brooklyn, first timer, friend of Mike Reff. Thanks to Ian and all responsible for a truly great evening of wine and food. I've enjoyed reading all of your notes and would add only a couple of contrary opinions. Though impressive and very good the 57 PL didn't blow me away I say ...
