Re: 2014 Montrose uncorked

I've really loaded up on Montrose over recent years, it's become one of my most significant left bank holdings, and at reasonable prices too:

8*2000
6*2005
12*2009
2*2010
8*2014
6*2016
12*2020

Problem is I'm not entirely sure *any* of these are fully mature.

A case of 2006 Conseillante for $110/bottle.

Perhaps an excessive number of bottles given my pace of drinking - this is a good but not great year for Conseillante that has probably a solid decade left on it, maybe more

Re: Dinner at Bistro Lepic in Georgetown with BWE friends…

Another special thing about this dinner was that Winona told a long story about rats entering his wine cellar, chewing off the capsule of his 1986 Mouton Rothschild, chewing through the cork, and then guzzling like half the bottle of 1986 Mouton. This would be a worthy sequel to Ratatouille should D...

Catching up on this. It was indeed a super enjoyable dinner. When I was a kid I played Strat-O-Matic baseball. Re: Points, scores, and ratings

The other thing is that at the very high end scores just don't stay consistent. If you have a truly rhapsodic experience with an aged wine it's rare that your next time drinking the exact same wine, even from the exact same batch, will yield quite the same experience. When a wine gets an extremely h...

I would say 2009 is a contender for VOTC.

Didn't critics tend to judge 2020 as being around as good as 2019?

I would also say that is roughly one out of four vintages could be a VOTC that is a lot of VOTCs.

God forgive me, despite my age, a case of 2020 Montrose for $150/bottle.

Could have gotten a case of 2019s for the same price but some key tasters (e.g. William Kelley) preferring 2020 tipped my decision, although it may take longer for the 2020 to come around...

Nothing fancy here but some nice hits. 2015 Cantemerle (half bottle) -- absolutely gorgeous nose on this one, living up to its Margaux (adjaecent) quality in 2015.
