Ok if we do Black Salt for Thursday night, how many people are coming Thursday so I can reserve? Do people still want the traditional Charlie Palmer for Saturday night? Or to change it up? Re: I am going to make a bold statement: 2016 Chateau Lafite Rothschild is the greatest wine I have ever tasted.

I recently picked up a few bottles of this at auction for $600/bottle all in. A splurge but I’m trying to get fewer but better wines, and it feels like eventually people will catch on to the quality of 2016 and start pricing it higher. But nothing compared to Jim’s score on this wine! The greatest w...

I’d put Harris at even money with Trump. My comment on the debate is on the trump thread. Agree with you 100% Jim. I really really liked this 2015 Gruaud when I had it a few years ago - in fact I think there’s a note I wrote on it somewhere on this site. I have very consistently found 2009s better than 2010s when side by side. This is partly because 2009 fits some of my stylistic preferences for a soft and velvety type style, but overall I would argue that they are very well balanced and have good structure as well. In contrast the 2010s have seemed...

Statistically these Celtics are one of the very best teams in all of basketball history, so they might end up a dynasty. The league done fucked up by letting them get Holiday/White/Porzingis while dumping their underachievers. Never trade with the Celtics

Wow, that is worse than large cities in the US I think there’s a good chance that there is a long term secular trend toward much lower demand for fine wine. LMHB is priced like a high end super second instead of a first growth, which is interesting. The market doesn't seem to see it as being as reliable or prestigious as the first growths. The other interesting case is Palmer, which is of course a third growth but is priced at the very top of the second...
