Re: Sociando Mallet 1996
Must have been an off bottle. Had this a year ago and the wine was really shining! No real herbalism present and the quality of the fruit was just so awesome. I suspected then that this wine should lay down until 2018 for optimum drinking pleasure, but I may of course be wrong about that...

Re: 2009 Pontet Canet $189.99
Pontet-Canet 2009 could be had for $166,6 in November here in Norway. Now I understand that the price then was ridiculous!

Re: 2006 Cantemerle, 1995 Mouton
Cantemerle always rocks the boat, but I find it kind of unapproachable in youth. Is the 2006 coming 'round recently?

Re: The 2008 Meyney has been uncorked....
Had this wine last week and was not impressed. Obviously too young for drinking now, but I can't see this ever coming around to something really great. Hard, bitter, tannic, unfriendly - was close to undrinkable now. Lowest scores of the night (panel testing of different communes of Bordeaux).

TN: Château Musset-Chevalier 2005 (St.Emilion Grand Cru)
Pop & pour. Nice medium dark red colour, but clear and seethrough. Nice nose of marshmallows, sweet cherry candy, mushrooms, caramel, some wood and cocoa powder. In mouth somewhat simple wine, doesn't really impress, rather short aftertaste. Seems good to go now, would probably only improve marg...

Re: Oh, how I love France...
Popped the Poujeaux 2007 tonight. It is great and somewhat open for business now, but will probably need 2-4 more years before really coming into its own.

Re: newer Bordeaux
I've had the 99 Palmer and it appeared to me as green, unripe, slightly unpleasant, with coaly/petrol'y nose. Could maybe be good in a 10-15 years, but don't even think about opening one now IMHO.

Maybe off topic, but Les Hauts de Pontet 1996 is stunning! Should be available at a reasonable price too?

Re: 2005 Cantemerle
Bacchus: Wow, that's even more expensive than here in Norway. I thought that would be impossible, considering our steep alcohol taxes and import toll charges. Is the taxes and fees on alcohol really that steep in Canada, or do they just exaggerate the price due to it geographically being a bit remot...

Anyone got taste notes on their second wine from this vintage (Blason D'Issan 2006)?

Re: 2007 Bordeaux... Thoughts.
Anyone had the Cantemerle '07? It's now available here in Norway at an affordable price (if you don't take into account alcohol tax and the Wine Monopoly fees).
