Re: Just call me a Burgundy man.

People are funny! As far as DRC involvement in Corton, it's my understanding that they've either purchased or contracted to harvest (I've heard different accounts), the vines of Domaine Prince Florent de Merode. The odd thing is that Merode's wines used to languish on the shelves. As soon as it was ...

I guess I did confuse the two of you, Jim, and I apologize for that. Is it a requirement for lawyers in Maine to be named Jim How, drink fine Bordeaux, and write novels? Sorry, couldn't resist, but it is an amazing coincidence. And I'm sorry if you don't live in an estate. Do you know each other? Ev...

Oh darn, it's disappointing to see that the only point of agreement between these two lists is that St. Estephe is last! I've been putting it off too. We got hit good and proper by Igor last year -- fortunately Irene has stayed to the west and north of us. --We're so far east we make Maine look like the mid-west. We're so far east we're closer to Ireland than the rest of Canada. I got a million of 'em.

No food, Chasse; just popped and poured. I had two glasses over 30 min, and then recorked the bottle. I'll try another glass after the bottle has sat about 24 hours -- see what a little time does to it. I could have it with lunch. What would be the right food for it?

Re: TN: Joseph Faiveley Bourgogne 2008

Inspired by CS's note, I picked up the '07 of this wine for lunch ('08 not yet on the shelf of my local store). It's a beautiful, clear red colour, just an itty bitty titch on the brown side of red; clear meniscus. The nose is kinda briny with a hint of violets. In the mouth it's light to be sure. I...

I'm going to have to try this "affordable" Burg. It's one of the few Faiveley the government still brings in. At one time there were oodles of different Faiveley wines to choose from, but it seems they've decided not to carry them any more. After mentioning CT, Jim, I couldn't help but che...

In what sense, Jim, don't you believe the stats? Do you think the prices are still on the rise, rather than falling? Or do you think they're falling even more than the article suggests (wouldn't that be nice)? Do you think the study is in good faith, even if wrong, or not? I don't have any '08s yet;...

After reading articles in the most recent issues of Decanter and World of Fine Wine, I'm wondering if others have sensed any sort of re-assessment of the quality of the 2010 vintage, especially in contrast to 2005.
