Re: 2008 d'Issan: Another 2002-like Bordeaux.

Jim, Nice note. Funny that we also bought a bottle 2 weeks ago. We have not opened it yet. D'Issan and its quality are always in my mind now, since the visit to the Chateau on our BWE '05 trip. It was the first visit on the first day of Bordeaux, and it immediately captured my heart. Simply a beauti...

Re: The 2005 Jadot Chambolle Musigny has been uncorked....

For some(including me), the Jadot wines could lack a bit of personalities. However, I found they could outperform a lot of bigger names when matured, in terms of drinking pleasure.

Jim,

Drinking good, Burgundy in the summer.

Re: Diverse set of some great wines

I like Montevetrano. They have the structure of a Bordeaux and the sexiness of a burgundy. I have some '96,'97,'98?. I guess it will take a bit more time before maturing.

Thanks for the notes, Patrick.

Re: So What If I Like Sluttiness in Sauternes? Climens 1988

Hi Jackdaw, Good to hear you here! We had some 1988 Climens at the convention dinner, which was just as you described: pure, nicely balanced, clean, focused, and with delicious flavors. It's my kind of wine. I think I liked it even better than d'Yquem. I expected it to develop further and bring out ...

The first puerh was a 2002 YiWu, while the second a 1999 YiWu and the third a 2011 LaoBanZhang. It's just like wine, the freshly produced puerhs could be fun to drink and accessible. Between 3-15 years, they pretty much shut down (some would take 30 -40 years, depending on the storage condition) (or...

Question for Ed:
Did you reveal all 2 bottles of the same wine? Or someone else did it to the second bottle?

I went back to the table of the blind tasting wines later, and saw all revealed.

Re: The only negative about SF'11...

The blind tasting was tricky. A few observations: 1. The ladies performed better than the gentlemen. 4 of the former got 2 wines identified correctly, while 1 of the later 2 wines and another of the later 3 wines. 2. There were 3 bottles of Lynch Bages that night: 2 for the blind tasting and the thi...

Thanks for the tips, David. I think the best we coud do is to collect the wines at the hotel at 4:45pm, and open them at 5:30pm at the venue, because we have many different bottles from many people and they don't all stay in the same hotel (some from locals), which makes collecting all bottles earli...

Hi Glenn,

In the past, people did tuxedo, jacket and tie, or business as usual. I recommend thinking of like going to a high end restaurant, for both ladies and gentlemen. A jacket and tie would fit you right in, no matter what.
