Around 15 hectares in St Julien have the right to use name Pauillac... Also there are laws restricting pruning, etc. for each grape varietal under each appellation...

I love the whole left bank, CV, or the west side of the estuary/river. My favorite appellations are Pauillac and St. Julien. If I had to pick one or the world would end, I'd pick Pauillac. When I saw Phelan Segur, I could not help it, and want to jump in. Even the previous vintages of the chateau are the same. Fruit forward, jammy and a bit sweet, to be consumed early on. When asked about it at the last UGC, they replied it's their style!!!

Would you be surprised, Jim, if I told you that Decanter gave the 09 a score of 95+, and rated it 2nd overall in a tasting that even included the firsts! Only Mouton-R got a higher score! CV - what location are you attending? I'm signed up for the Los Angeles tasting. Although the only 2010 wines I've ordered were through PCs "half off" sales and I don't plan to buy more at existing market prices, it still is a fun learning experience. It'll be interesting also to see RP's...
