Re: Original Wooden Case inserts

Thanks Stefan. I was trying to put together couple of mixed cases with my son's birth year, 2008 vintage. I wanted to use wooden cases so that I can stow them away for a long time while freeing up my rack space at the same time...Just finished one mixed case... 2 bottles each - 2008 Montro...

Original Wooden Case inserts

I have a trivial question about OWC inserts -- Those pesky little wooden inserts that hold the wine bottles in place. For 12 bottle OWC, how many inserts are there typically, 4 or 6? Are all the inserts same looking? I just have inserts wherein one edge is flat and the other edge with semi-circular ...

I confess to buying the GL right off the bat because a) I don't have any (somewhat important - although I subsequently took down some of the 2008). b) I've really liked the few I've had (highly important). c) At $55, it was so reasonably priced  (highly important, and I can't think of a less ...

Re: Call me Lemming. Hear my confession. 2009 Bordeaux and I

I'm ambivalent about my 2009 purchases (and the scale of my 2005 purchases), but I can always dump these via auction for at least my initial costs if I decide I don't like them or have too much wine. Given (what I've read about) the vintage style, I am most excited about these wines in my 2009 purc...

Do the European prices on Winesearcher reflect VAT? Because I too often see some competitive prices for wines in France and England versus US. As far as I know, the prices do not reflect VAT. Just like in the US listing, the tax is not included in the price display. If you add VAT, IMO the prices a...

More discounted pricing from Premier Cru indicates it is not, most likely directly caused by the BD's edict. What was the price ceiling? I tried both (along with 80 or so other wines) at Union de Grande Cru tasting in L.A. this past January. My preference was for the Poyferre, but that was a personal taste issue rather than trying to assess inherent "quality". As I recall, the Poyferre was more black currant and the oak so...
