Jim,
You seem to be a fan of Chorey-les-Beaune, or at least of the Jadot bottling. I highly recommend the Chorey from Francois Gay. Very good producer.

Stefan,
What do you think of 2009? I am excited about it... I imagine it's possible you haven't tried any yet. But then again, who could resist if the opportunity arose?

Re: Question on Lynch '86

Jim, Ever try to buy it at auction? Any general idea on a case price? I imagine that LB 86 would be a killer wine! David, The only thing I saw on Cellar Tracker was a bottle price of $225 out at Sokolin on the Island. WS Professional, which I don't have, had only three other listings that I couldn't...

Question on Lynch '86

Does anyone know anything about Lynch-Bages '86 prices at auction? Or what prices you have been seeing or paying ? A friend of mine has some to sell and is curious how his broker's offer stacks up.
Thanks!

It's not bad, but kind of slick and commercial. Needless to say, I didn't try that many wines.

Re: One more New Hampshire State Liquor Store inside job

This is really strange, especially the lack of details in the story. Sounds like they got a bunch of vino VIA gray market or otherwise, and quietly flipped it. Unfortunately, someone saw a little something. Gettin' bold, I'd say...

Re: WSJ asks if Pétrus worth it

Thanks for your detailed explanation, David. I guess you're right, the wine is probably one of the least important parts of the trick. Faking the caps/foil, corks, labels and all that would certainly be harder, given the amount of available similar wine to stick in there.

I've always been somewhat impressed by the idea of high-level forgers, such as art forgers, for instance. I mean, if you can paint almost as well as a master, that's impressive enough. But what a crazy way to make a buck, right? I mean, it takes a lot of effort - why not just use those talents to ma...

The Franc-Maillet is excellent. I tried it over the past two days. Very good aging potential. 80/20 on merlot and cab franc. 50% new French oak on the merlot. Full bodied but balanced, slightly exotic from the high percentage of cab franc. The two Chateau Pilet wines, red and white, are nice authent...
