Re: Question for Rick re Numanthia

The Numanthia was great, but nothing near the 98 rating of the WA. Especially if I compare it with some wines from Saturday... But 175 $ for a magnum seem a bit pricy, as you can get the 05 here for 65 CAN$ a bottle (I think I should get some...). Bodegas Numanthia also produce a wine called Termant...

TN : 2005 Chateau Brown

What is that wine? Never heard the name? Never read anything about it? In my search for affordable-nice-to-drink-complex-interesting-05-Bordeaux, I bought 3 bottles of the 2005 Chateau Brown , a Pessac-Léognan. As everything is good in the ''super great'' 2005 Bordeaux vintage, I want to buy a few 3...

Re: Wine and sushi

For my part, I'm a fan of ginger and wasabi. So I'll always want an acidic fresh unoaked wine. Stiff refreshing Sauvignon or South African Chenin Blanc.

Come to my mind, the cheap Trio Sauvignon Blanc from Concha Y Toro in Chile. Crisp as hell.

09 DC convention : the 05 Burgs and Friday night dinner

For Chasse-Spleen, and all BWEers. So, more than a week after, I'm reporting on the wines I had the chance to taste, during the full weekend of the 2009 Washington DC convention. I will come later with comments or proposals to do some changes/improvements for the next one. I fully agree that those c...

And lesson learned from that convention : I will do everything I can to always bring 2 bottles of each important wine. I felt so bad when DavidG asked me some 1988 Haut-Brion and it was all gone! Also, I brought a 1989 Troplong-Mondot, that I think was not perfect. Sorry for those who I poured some ...

TN : 2006 Chateau Haut-Castelot

Last night, with veal, I wanted a Bordeaux but nothing too concentrated or tasty. I was looking for a genuine kind of claret, with low tannins, so I saw that St-Émilion (not St-Émilion Grand Cru, or Classé) and thought it would be perfect. So the 2006 Chateau Haut-Castelot , is from J. Janoueix, a w...

Yes Tom,

1974 January vintage. But I could not legally drive at that time... One 1974 Bordeaux would be interesting, but I don't know which one is still showing well today.
1974 Petrus was ok at Chicago in 2001. It was a wine of the blind tasting and finish 6th over 6.
