Re: Two d'Armailhacs and a revelation....
Nice stories about the two Armailhac. The 2016 looks like a very serious one. I’m younger than you, but I slowly pacing down on my Bordeaux purchase, but still buying stuff that will drink earlier. Bordeaux are best after 20 years and I never had great patience waiting for wine. For the last 4 vinta...
Re: 2000 DDC
I’ve been impressed by recent DDC including 2014, 2015, 2016 (the best of the lot) and 2018.
I can’t remember if I ever had the 2000, but look like i should find some as your description make me feel like it is a classical styled Pessac.

Terroir? Yes. Clos de la Roilette
The 2022 Clos de la Roilette cuvée tardive tonight was amazing! Thankyou to the BWEers that turned me on to that producer (the Bobbys in Orlando?). I have drank lot of Beaujolais, but not all of them. I feel like the terroir at la Roilette is making the difference. After all, why this producer would...

Re: 2023 Bordeaux revisited!
I did not bought a lot of 2023, as i’m trying to diversify my cellar a bit. But bought Batailley, Talbot and Calon Segur. I’m with you Izak about the greatness of 2016. I’m not as positive for 2018, even if it is an excellent vintage, but with my limited 2018 sampling, i feel there is more concentra...

4 bottles of the excellent and extraordinary 2022 Clos de la Roilette Cuvée Tardive.
Thank you for answering claudius. Sometimes i feel i’m texting myself on BWE, as it is incredibly quiet these days.

Opened 2 bottles lately. 2022 Weingut Markus Huber Vision Grüner Veltliner was impressive for it reasonable price, with flint stone, lemon, green melon, and green lemon. Thirst-quenching, and extremely well balanced. Tn : 90. 2022 Domaine Ruet Brouilly, also less than 23 $cad, was the type of Beaujo...

Re: 1994 Chateau Montelena Estate Cabernet
Nice report hautbrionlover.
I did not had Montelena (regular cuvée and Estate) very often but liked it too each time i tried it.
I brought a 2008 Montelena Estate at the 2015 BWE convention in Bordeaux. I opened it at a lunch in Langon and while young, it was excellent.

Nice Claudius!
I’ve just bought two bottles of a nice red Bourgogne. Just waiting confirmation i’ll get it. It is even more difficult to buy medium fancy wines here in Québec than on North Korea…

You preferred it to the 2020 Meyney… i feel like relativity law has been respected.
Pichon Longueville Baron is at the top of it’s game for the last 20-25 years.
2014 seems to fit you well Jim. Could it be the theme for Thursday night in DC?

Re: 2009 Chateau Calon Segur has been uncorked and other ramblings....
Good job David. I knew that 09 CS wasn’t as bad as Jim description. I agree with your ‘’ cassis, cherry, smoky earthy notes and a hint of leafy herbs ‘’description, that i think is resuming well it complexity. Yes ripe fruit, but stay enough light, fresh and structure to make it an excellent wine to...

Re: 2009 Chateau Calon Segur has been uncorked and other ramblings....
A bit sad that bottle of 2009 CS. At the end, i guess it is not powerful or concentrated enough for your palate? I mean, it is a light wine for 2009, but for me gets a higher score for complexity, classicism, terroir oriented and drinkability. Different palates so different appreciation.

2022 Kumeu Village pinot noir and a sip of 2019 Clos des Fées
Had that New Zealand light red pinot noir last night. For the low price, a nice light pinot, mostly composed of light red cherries and berries nose and mouth, with lot of volcanic minerals. Good freshness (far away from The pinot style of Central Otago), with some subtle green element too. Very good...

The 2016 was drinking nicely after 90 min of air. Started like a concentrated slightly warm merlot. Became a merlot berry, meaty, black plum, licorice, mineral Canon-Fronsac. The Revelette is the perfect qpr red from Provence. Clearly too good with it medium weight and well made constitution and aro...
