Re: 2012 BWE WINE OF THE YEAR: 2009 CHATEAU GISCOURS

I just ordered four of the '09 Giscours myself. I did enjoy the'05 and '06 of this wine. Another bordeaux deal I got today was for '09 Fleur Cardinale for $37 - seemed like a steal of a price (at bestwinesonline.com) - I adored the '05 Fleur Cardinale. Seems like there are still nice deals to be had...

Re: Is 1996 LB at its peak?

Slightly off topic, but I drank '66 Lynch Bages recently. Strangely it was bottled by Ridge in California as noted on a seperate label on the bottle, but was otherwise indistinguishable to the usual Lynch bottle. It was a bit of fun to drink, but had quite a bit of unwelcome motor oil tones.I'm glad...

'09 Malescot St. Exupery gets my vote. It did quite a number on me...sumptuous intensity..

I got a case of the '88 Lynch from a Christies auction about four years ago. I agree it's something special. I've only one left and I've set it upright, intending to drink it soon. It's so elegant, I've enjoyed it best by itself, without food.

Re: 2010 Bordeaux

Luckily I had loaded up on '10 Dominique with orders for 21 bottles. My taste seems to align well with Suckling's and he rated it well for the price, so I thought I'd take a chance. I also bought a smattering few bottles of other '10, most notable of which is Beausejour Duffau, Montrose, Cos d'Estou...

Re: PremierCru

I look forward to visiting them to pick up my purchases as they come in. Having ordered >170 bottles from there over the last three months, I may need several trips to pick up the wine ;-) , especially as I'm sure to keep ordering more over time..Will be the first store I'll get to where I need more...

Re: Pricing on Old vs. Recent Vintages

I think the technology and process of wine making has indeed improved a lot, especially over the last few years, so it would account for the rise in quality of many wines at many of the Bordeaux estates, although given that the two bottles in question are rated similarly, it still doesn't explain wh...

Re: Pricing on Old vs. Recent Vintages

True, I'm sure the price of the '82 has increased significantly in real terms since original release, so it was still likely a good investment for folks who bought it originally. Still though, the current market price of both the '82 and '09 are so close, and yet the '82 would seem to be a significa...

Pricing on Old vs. Recent Vintages

I've grown particularly fond of Bordeaux in the last couple of years, having discovered wine about ten years ago. I'm now spending more time and money on seeking out a small handful of Bordeaux gems to hide in my cellar, alongside the larger bulk of more everyday Bordeaux that I have. I do find I ge...

Re: PremierCru

Hi Jeff: I'm not particularly worried, but like other users I do note that it seems to take a lot longer to get the wine than most other merchants and I haven't heard a good explanation for that yet. On the plus side, I do find my communications with them to be answered very promptly, with great det...

Re: PremierCru

Bear with me as this is my first post. I was drawn to the thread as I have 172 bottles pending from PC from very recent orders, as I was drawn by the deals for '09 and '10 pre-arrivals and futures. The main point I wanted to add is that I have had a similar experience before from The Wine Club in Sa...
