Re: President Trump

Bobby Kennedy was my first political hero too.
The problem is less Aaron Rodgers and Jesse Ventura than the conspiracy theorist nutjob who is shaming his father’s name (by, among other things, considering them for veep)

We had two bottles of ‘86 Lafite two years ago for a birthday celebration and they showed real bottle variation. One was extraordinary; the second quite fine but by no means as good as the first.

So I opened a 1988 Pichon Lalande last night with some prime bone-in ribeyes.
It was a bit lighter weight than I expected, but elegant, with a complex nose, lovely balance and overall delicious nonetheless. I gave it a 92.

I am a longtime Montelena lover. I have every vintage of the estate Cab from 1990 on, but noticed last week that I’m down to my last bottle on a couple of them. I’ll have to open a ‘93 soon, as it’s been quite a while and they’re probably getting long in the tooth (for that vintage anyway, though th...

The Palmer and Chateau Margaux were extraordinary, as good (at least) as their 1982 counterparts.

My problem is that I have consumed very few, or none, of my post-2005 Bordeaux.

It seems that white Bordeaux does not have the widest following, but I really enjoy many of them, mostly from Pessac-Leognan. I couldn’t agree more about the 1990 Pichon Baron, which is my favorite PB and among my favorite all-time Bordeaux.
I last tasted it about 1 1/2 years ago, when I opened one with my (adult) kids to celebrate my 65th.

I had bought six bottles ages ago because it was my daughter’s birth year.
Sadly, we drank the last one a few years ago - I think to celebrate her thirtieth birthday. It did make for a memorable birthday dinner though!

Jim, That ‘79 Gruaud Larose played a major role in hooking me on Bordeaux. My interest in wine began in ‘82-‘83. I was trying all kinds of wine, but the one top flight Bordeaux that was readily available in my (low) price range was the ‘79 GL. It seemed like there was an endless supply at $15-16! I’...
