Re: So what have you bought lately?

IRS lost our 2019 return… 3 times. An e-file they confirmed receiving and two subsequent hard copies they signed for. Still waiting for our 2020 refund. The IRS really does owe us money. Somehow I think all those new agents will be too busy chasing PayPal $600-aires to find our 2019 return or send ...

Huh? I mention it upthread...

Brooks felt that Coutet and Doisy Daene's luxe bottlings were extremely intense, Yquem like.

Wow. A sneak peak at this powerful year. I've only seen 'Franck Phelan' once, via a website, in the US. It was the 2003 and I was sorely tempted to order it, and try to coax my sister to schlep out to the wherever it was in Cupertino, to retrieve it. However, her patience for what I might frame as '...

I find Gilette CdT more than any other chateau in the market though... I think in their situation, it's actually meant to be a commercial (moneymaking) proposition. For many other estates, Brooks suggests that it's a vanity project to show that 'we could make Yquem, if we wanted' i.e. their terroir...

There was some complexity around the medical test results. Apparently during the chaos of the corporate Theranos bankruptcy, the database was encrypted and then somehow 'irretrievably' lost. Great overview. I buy Rioja Reservas and GR's in the bigger vintages and they cellar well. I've timidly explored other DO's and feel like they are often produced to 'win' panel contests. There is a huge co-op that makes a widely available garnacha, Tres Picos, which is a good choice when traveling, ...

Out of curiosity, is Angelus somewhat less distributed into the US, vs the other classic first growths?

It seems like - for a wine of its quality/stature/marketing - that the other wines of comparable price are more available, and just generally 'seen' more.

Is it a production issue?

For those who are buying the 89 Pichon Lalande, I feel - as well regarded as it was in its first few decades -- that it was not fully understood. What a remarkable decade they had in the 80's. I know many of you have had it a dozen plus times, so it's not a secret or anything.

I'd think the left side of the aisle should be pretty happy today. Most of the close races broke their way, and many of the Trumpist endorsees did poorly.
