Re: Our thoughts with Joel....

Thank you all for the kind words and empathy. It's been quite difficult for my family and even though we (thankfully) have never had to go through anything like this before, I know that we are resilient and have faith that we'll get through it. I find some solace in the fact that he passed doing wha...

Like GBF, there is a fellow by the name of Mr. Leve who rates it 100 points. Hey, we only live once, I say. Picked up some more 2019 Montrose today, the tax free Granite State has a TWENTY percent off sale, I'm not sure we've ever seen THAT, Gerry. Mind sharing what the prices came to for the 19 Mo...

Very easily, my top 10 is coming from 2 events, London conventio and my pre-wedding day diner. Happy New Year, Ian. I could see that wine drinking quite well right now. I don't think that the bottle of this that we had at our 2002 First growth table at BWE 2022 was a correct bottle. The Haut Brion, Lafite and Palmer all crushed it for me. I'll be curious to see what you think of the Palmer wh...

Re: 2010 Courcel Grand Clos des Épenots

I'm not surprised by this showing in the slightest. This and the Rugiens are wonderful wines that take forever to come around from Courcel. Brought the 99 to the 2022 Friday dinner and it was singing, but still very youthful. Maybe I need to try an off vintage. I have no idea when to open my 2005 of...

A fantastic night with Stu and Kathy

I spent about 6 days over Christmas in Pompano Beach with my girlfriend and her parents who live there. We had a good time with lots of French and Romanian meals as well as plenty of French wine. I figured this would be a great time to reach out and see if it worked out to finally meet Stu and Kathy...

Merry Christmas to everyone. Glad that the lafite turned out so well. I could see it being quite great in that vintage. 2 comments: 2 2019 Margaux’s. And having 2 Montrose entries out of 5 possible choices seems a little biased, so I’d replace one of them with something like a Canon or one of the Pichon’s. Sure, I was just trying to get the ball rolling by including some wines that were mentioned during the debate. ...

Excellent notes Joel and I can’t believe I agree with you on the top 5. And that you liked the Bruno Paillard. I brought that and was wondering why no one was drinking that beauty. Joel, Agree there are better qpr's in Bordeaux than Sassacaia but I must say I've loved it every time I've had it going through cases of the 97-2000 with friends over the years. It has never displayed the complexities or nuances of an aged Bordeaux but it always was a crowd pleaser. I haven't bough...

So the $50 Fortuna clearly beat the $300 Sassicaia? I have yet to have a Sassicaia that really shows something to me. But in fairness, I haven't tried that many. Think how many bottles of Bordeaux would beat that $300 2015 VCC :) Like some value 2014's that are so much more classic and accessible r...

A Wonderful Year of Wines and Friends

2023 has easily been the best wine drinking year of my life. Exponentially. A lot of that has been due to friends that I've met on BWE or through BWE members. I even went on a 9-10 week stretch in the late spring of having at least one tasting with a BWEer every week, if not more. As great as my win...

Bellvue Mondotte is Gerard Perse made just like Pavie and in 2005 both received the magical 3 digit score from Parker’s Richter scale, so why don’t you instead try to sell or consign them as they do have value to others. It's hard to fully agree with both sides of a debate but I think that both JC's and David's points are well thought out.
