My two WOTNs were the 2015 Sauzet and the 1986 Gruaud. I looked up the 2015 Sauzet BBM thinking I might purchase it and after seeing the price can only say THANK YOU BRIAN FOR BRINGING THIS WINE! My pleasure! It certainly didn't cost that much when I bought it. White Burgundy prices have skyrockete...

Old Burgundy Dinner with small group of friends

A small group of us got together at Joel’s for dinner and some old Burgundy. This group has converted me to the beauty of old Burgundy. I wish I purchased more in my youth to lay down like one in the group did. I only cellared Bordeaux and Cal Cabs. I remember buying Burgundy but always considered t...

Definitely a fun time and so nice to see you again. So hard to pick a favorite. The ‘86 Gruaud was one of my favorites. If Jim says he has had better bottles, I’ll need to search out more. Of course I loved the Sauzet, it was a beautiful wine. The ‘89 Palmer was also one of my favorites. And both th...

Old Burgundy Dinner WINE TALK Brian_Pinci 6h Our wine group friends Marc and Sandra hosted a dinner with some very old wines from his collection. 1988 Salon - Nose of brown sugar. I’m (trying) to limit myself to one unicorn bottle a month this year while in retirement. I have way too much wine as it is. So I bought a 2019 Chateau La Violette. I hesitated because of the price, but I’ve always loved the owners’ Le Gay. I don’t see it that often and wanted to add to my cellar. H...

Excellent notes Joel and I can’t believe I agree with you on the top 5. And that you liked the Bruno Paillard. I brought that and was wondering why no one was drinking that beauty. I also brought the 89 Montrose and kept denying to myself saying “that’s not corked , that’s funk!”
