Re: 2018 Lafon Rochet... 14.5% but seems like the real deal.

I like the 18s so far but if you are sensitive to high alcohol you may not like them. I don't find 18 overripe, though they are ripe and very concentrated. In my opinion 16 is better than 14 that is better than 18, for me 11, 15 and 17 are weaker/ lower quality vintages ( still very good). I would n...

I wonder if St Estephe was/is specially successful in 2018. Ch Lilian Ladouys, Ormes de Pez, and Capbern did great in my opinion.
I have not had Lafon Rochet yet but liked their 2016.

Re: 2000 Pichon Baron uncorked, in celebration of year BWE born.

This thread speaks to me of two truths: 1) It is not possible to accurately and reliably predict how a young Bordeaux will behave in 20 years. We can make educated guesses, but no more. 2) It is not possible to accurately and reliably predict how our palates will behave in 20 years. I really like t...

Jim, How was Lalande vs Baron for 2014?

Also remember the impact BWE has, I heard a lot about problems with all the 2014 in US being spoiled while transported over to the US. Would not buy unless directly from the Chateau. 😉

Have a great time in Florida!

Maybe we need a winery of the year award also. To acknowledge a currently overachieving winery each year. Nicola's suggestion of Clerc Milon might fit well for such an award.
