Re: Ch Cantemerle 2016

Bill, I feel like Cantemerle is underpriced maybe because it is a large estate and that it is only labeled as a Haut Medoc, just so close to the border of Margaux.

Nic, I have two bottles left, thinking about buying a couple more, sadly I am out of the 2014 which was also a very good wine.

Re: As BWE winds down after over 23 years.... My note to jean-Nicolas.

I am in total agreement with RPCV. This site has been the home for me to learn more about Bordeaux and wine in general. I hope that you Jim, will reconsider. Please take some time and think about how much this site has meant to so many of us, it would be a sad way for BWE to end. All good things don...

Ch Cantemerle 2016

Still young this has a very classic feel to it. Dark fruit a touch of sourness developed on the second day. Good concentration. Great balance between the acidity, fruit and tannins. All and all a very classic Bordeaux, some lead pencil. This wine will likely mature in a very nice way. 2016 is clearl...

Chateau d'armailhac and Stag's Leap Cab 2017

Had these blind and I preferred the Pauillac. Tasting Note from second day: The aromas of dark fruit, some oaky smokiness, hints of herbs. In the mouth this medium bodied wine has a very nice core of dark fruits think black currants and blackberries, very young and fresh, plenty of tannic structure ...

There are in my opinion some good wines. Grand Puy Ducasse , Haut Bages Liberal, Ormes de Pez, Lilian Ladouys, Pedesclaux, Pierre de montignac.
But if high EtOH is an issues look at the great 2016/2014.

I agree Nic, Cantemerle is really great QPR, an excellent wine. In my opinion the 2016 and 2014 are the best recent vintages. But I had 2018, that JimH has spoken well about, yesterday and it is not far off from those. I will try to get 2019 to try that.

Funny, I just had their second wine (Lacoste Borie 2016) last Sunday, it was excellent. Better than some of the 5th classified 2019 Pauillacs that I have had.
Today I bought a case of it. Now when you mention GPL 2019 I am tempted to garb one of the half bottles but I need to wait.

Totally agree with RC and Jim on that LT is a great wine nowadays. The 2016 is a great wine and the 2018 is a very good wine. The level of alcohol is a bit high in the 2018. Can't get the 2016 anymore around here which is sad. Drank a lot of them but wish I had stocked up more. Still enjoy the 2018 ...
