I largely agree with Ian, with one exception. The biggest losers are the members of the progressive wing of the Democratic Party. Had Trump not killed 250K people and shown himself to be a intemperate monster, he would have secured nothing short of a landslide victory. This is a center-right country...

I am just going to throw this out there. For a purchase price of about $500K, one can buy a place in Portugal, get a resident visa and be only 5 years and a rudimentary test of Portuguese away from EU citizenship.

No idea on the economics. I suspect that a winery in a remote village in Alsace is not able to game the market in any meaningful way.

As one of our resident Alsace aficionados, I will tell you that reading that Mader is turning their wine into hand sanitizer is akin to reading that Leoville Barton’s vintage was lost at sea. These folks make a Riesling from the Rosacker vineyard that other vignerons point to as in a class by itself...
