Re: Classic Bordeaux - Who Are The Remaining Stalwarts
You know, on classic vs modern Bordeaux, I think things are more complicated than is made out. In particular, I think there are not one but two recent waves of "modernism" in Bordeaux. The first is Parkerization, or Rolland-ization if you like, which hit in the early 2000s -- longer hang ...

Re: Modern Bordeaux
We do need an updated “classical, traditionalist” BWE thread! I’ll through a few more out: -BAMA (the oldest of the old school?) -Leoville Barton and Langoa Barton (not super old school like BAMA, but pretty classic still for my palate) -Branaire Ducru (not rustic, but zero spoof it seems) -Lafite ...

Re: Modern Bordeaux
Great post Conor, thoughtful and articulate. I agree with you. Old Bordeaux from the fifties, sixties and seventies were often 12-13% ABV and that seems just right. I can’t tolerate some of the modern Cal Cabs and CdPs at 16+ but that may be due to other factors such as over extraction. Yet I like ...
