Re: Château Grillet - anyone had this?

Ah, cheers. Not that interesting then, although worth a go if it turns up somewhere.

Château Grillet - anyone had this?

I was just reading about Empress Josephine and she had this wine in her cellar, along with a lot of Bordeaux. Interesting that it's AOC Chateau Grillet and is owned by a single estate (monopole), I'd not heard of that before. Apparently they make just one white, has anyone had it? http://www....

Re: Is the 1997 Poujeaux worth $35?

Hi Iain

£206.15 all in (duty/VAT) and free delivery - from here: http://www.nickollsandperks.co.uk

Works out at about $28/bottle delivered by my calulations so a bit cheaper.

Re: $1m wine book

If had the $$, I'd spend them elsewhere. Pretty sure you wouldn't get the specific wines written up, but something undoubtedly less valuable but from the same producer. I dunno, for $1m I'd be expecting first growths. Say the book itself takes up $300,000, that leaves $700,000 / 100 / 12 = $583 per...

TN: 1984 Haut Brion

Drank this last night (from magnum.. see 1984 thread ). Good fill level, cork came out quite easily - almost too easily - but the top of the cork was sound and there was only partial staining up the side of it. First sniff was a bit disconcerting, vaguely vinegary, but this soon disappeared to smell...

1984... thoughts?

From what I've read, '84 is seen as an off vintage in general for Bordeaux. However, I read (albeit by someone from Haut Brion on their website) that Haut Brion made a nice wine that year. Having just bought a magnum of the Haut Brion '84 and with plans to drink it soon, I wondered what people thoug...

Glad people like it.

It may be a caching issue with the other computers by the way, try clearing your cache. If you don't know what I mean, searching for "clear cache x" in Google where x is your browser; should give you instructions.

Mouton '06 label: Lucien Freud

I just got an email from a blog I'm subscribed to about this, with this blue-tinged image: http://bordeaux-undiscovered.blogspot.com/2009/02/wine-and-art-chateau-mouton-rothschild.html I had a bit of a search and other places have it as a brown-tinged one, e.g: http://blog.sigihiss.com/?p=860 Person...

Re: TN: 2007 Domaine La Garrigue Ctes du Rhne Cuve Romaine

Hi Eric

It looks like the accented characters aren't being displayed at all in FF3 or IE7.

In fact I've just looked in the database and they're not in their either, so they're getting lost somewhere along the line.

Re: TN: 2004 Château de Reignac (France, Bordeaux, Bordeaux Supérieur)

It ended up being still quite strong, a bit like squeezing the tea bag against the mug instead of letting it brew slowly to make tea. I think overextracted probably describes it. Too oaky for me as well, a bit like an over oaked Rioja, but without the vanilla strains.

TN: 2004 Château de Reignac (France, Bordeaux, Bordeaux Supérieur)

⋅  2004 Château de Reignac - France, Bordeaux, Bordeaux Supérieur (1/28/2009) Strong nose, unmistakeably Bordeaux, some cherry and leather. Cherry follows through to the pallete but it's really overloaded with oak and tannins. Admittedly it's young but it's far stronger/harsher than other...

Re: VLT to Commemorate the NEW BWE

I'd be interested in this, but I can't stretch my budget to Grand Puy Lacoste '95 at the minute. If we can decide on something a bit cheaper I'm in. Maybe the '04? Or something more esoteric.

I did actually by a Chateau de Reignac the other day... that might be a bit controversial though :)

Re: Auto-link to CellarTracker

I see. I think this board won't return searches if you enter a word that's too common though (try searching for "TN") I could always change the coding to allow it though. I think we should discuss this later once we've got the remote posts up and running.

I've just heard back from Eric and he's got it working his end, just needs to set it up so CT users can use it from their accounts.

The idea is it'll post straight to this forum with the "TN: " prepended to the subject.
