Re: For the French speakers; Francois Audouze featured

I remember when I was the Boy Mayor back in the early nineties the French Ambassador to the United States came to Franco-American Lewiston for a cultural visit. We hosted a big noon-time dinner for him, the business community was there, and the politicians and media, etc., and of course I had to giv...

Re: TN:1998 Les Cailloux - Andre Brunel - Chateauneuf du Pape Cu

I went home at lunch and was gonna decant but I decided against it. I want to experience the whole excruciating range of this wine. I recall having this wine from another very young vintage a few years ago and it was a tannic beast... just the way I like'em! I realize this is an infant and am calibr...

Thanks for the report, Tom. This wine will always have a place in the heart of BWEers. It was one of the wines tasted blind at the original Chicago '01 blind tasting, stuck in there as a ringer along with the '89 Lynch, '89 Purple Baron, '82 GPL, '73 Petrus, and '90 Lagrange. At first, everyone comm...

HS: I think you should try that 2007 Domaine La Garrigue Cotes du Rhone Cuvee Romaine, twelve dollars at PJs, an RMP90, excellent QPR... a Houndsong-kind-of-wine if I ever saw one. I think that would satisfy the BWE CdP Harry Chateauneuf du Pape Month assignment, wouldn't it?

I was so impressed by that Pegau CdP Cuvee Laurence the other night. Very impressive how the high alcohol was not afactor at all. I'm looking forward to tryinging the 2006 Vieux Telegraphe "La Crau" I bought yesterday, Mr. Parker seems to be high on it.
