Re: OMGs! Wine prices

The RMP90-92-and-Richard-approved 2006 Cantemerle for $25 in the reliable Zachy's futures program is very tempting.

Re: I'm with Richard on the 2004s

HS: I think you should try that 2007 Domaine La Garrigue Cotes du Rhone Cuvee Romaine, twelve dollars at PJs, an RMP90, excellent QPR... a Houndsong-kind-of-wine if I ever saw one. I think that would satisfy the BWE CdP Harry Chateauneuf du Pape Month assignment, wouldn't it?

Nice! I had this once, about ten years ago, from a magnum I bought at Martignetti's Liquors, their North End store in Boston. I paid $90, incredibly, for the magnum. I remember we had it at a family gathering on a Sunday afternoon. It was indeed a tannic bruiser back then but even back then you coul...

Richard, I see the 2006 Cantemerle is going for $25 on futures at Zachy's in NYC, which sounds like a reasonable price. Sounds like this gets two thumbs up from you as a case purchase?

Come see MichaelP, Nic, '95 d'Yquem, and more at DC '09!

I'm going down to NYC next week for the opera and to source some 1980s Bordeaux for the Big Bash in Washington DC in the first week in April. I'm pleased to see most people coming in on Thursday. I haven't heard back from my senator's office on my request for a Capitol tour but she was busy this wee...

I was so impressed by that Pegau CdP Cuvee Laurence the other night. Very impressive how the high alcohol was not afactor at all. I'm looking forward to tryinging the 2006 Vieux Telegraphe "La Crau" I bought yesterday, Mr. Parker seems to be high on it.

I've really enjoyed the 2005 Mongeard-Mugneret Fixin, Chris, which I've had a few times. It is consistent with your notes above, including the early medicinal quality rounding out to the seductive black cherries and earth profile.

Not once during the course of this evening did it occur to me that the alcohol intruded in any way. The hallmark of this wine is balance. That seducing earthiness is taking over now with the final drops. Wow! An outstanding performance.

This wine has been seamless from beginning to end. It integrates the 14.5% alcohol effortlessly. Outstanding balance. It has tremendous complexity, finishing with black cherry and tobacco, wood and spice. This is a real eye-popper for me, Harry, I realize they're not all going to be this good, but I...

Getting an earthiness here, this beauty is layered, complex, no interference whatsoever from the 14.5% alcohol level. This wine should be tremendous with the ribeye being readied for the grill....

And then, of course, we will see whether it stands up to the Maine whoopie pie test!
