I had my concerns too, Bob, I'll bring a half bottle for you when I see you next, I think you'll be pleasantly surprised. It's a classy little effort.

Re: TN: 2005 Château Gressier Grand Poujeaux (France, Bordeaux, Médoc, Moulis en Médoc)

Do you get the impression that the quality of this wine was the product of the overall excellence of the vintage, Otto, or is this an estate that we should look at on a yearly basis?

...Quite an accomplishment, when you think about it.
We almost didn't have a Napa '02, which probably would have put the kabosh to the whole thing. But we did, and it is good to keep the tradition continuing.

It'll get better with age, Alch, although I don't see it as a real long-termer. I'd say it will continue to improve for another 5-10 years.

I think it's settled then. The theme for BWE DC '09 is:

"Bordeaux from the Golden Decade of the 1980s, or Bordeaux that is Older than Nic."

TN: 1998 Château Quinault L'Enclos

1998 Château Quinault L'Enclos - France, Bordeaux, Libournais, St. Émilion Grand Cru (2/4/2009) Robert Parker was right about this wine. What a lovely right bank Bordeaux this has turned out to be. It has really rounded out nicely, displaying nice layers of complexity, with tobacco, leather, and ev...

Re: BWE DC '09 Dinner at Charlie Palmer Steak

So, what are we going to do for a blind tasting?
(Don't worry, I'm not pressing for 2005 village Burgundy. Still, I think some sort of blind tasting event during the hour just prior to dinner-- the way David has it listed above-- is a BWE tradition that we should perpetuate.)

2004 Louis Jadot Beaune 1er Cru Clos des Ursules - France, Burgundy, Côte de Beaune, Beaune 1er Cru (2/4/2009) This wine has been a pleasant surprise. I don't see any bitterness or unripeness here. Re: TN: 1990-2003 Pegau Reservee - 2003 Clos des Papes

I had some bottles of 2000 and 2001 Clos des Papes and I absolutely loved them. Unfortunately, I loved them too much, as they were quickly consumed. Then starting with the 2003 vintage the wines got very expensive here in the U.S. I think i had a bottle or two of the '04, which I seem to recall you ...
