I need help

I got an unexpected and generous gift certificate for a well-known retailer in California. So it looks like I’ll be violating my buying moratorium once again to buy some 2015 Bordeaux. While I may need help with my lack of willpower, that’s not the subject of my post. I need help with shipping. Are ...

Re: Rimmerman on BDX 2016

Danny, I agree with your premise but I guess the French are pretty obsessive and rigid when it comes to the whole AOC thing. Does it prevent abuse ordilution of the brand? Or is it regulation for regulation's sake? Probably somewhere in between. I do wonder why Giscours felt it necessary to chaptali...

JR is all salesman, no doubt. Even so, a very enthusiastic write-up. One thing that stood out to me was his disappointment with Canon. I seem to recall reading high praise for that wine, but don’t recall where. Maybe Ian?

Great notes Nic. I’m with you on the 82 vs. 86 Mouton, but we were in the minority.

The broad range of 1998s was a lot of fun. Enjoyed reliving them through your report.

Re: 2015 Giscours: A 50-year wine?

Not a believer in travel shock which is what Nic is describing. We had solid evidence in DC last week that travel does not make wine shut down. It can stir up sediment but that's about it IMO. Bottle shock is different and results in a poor showing for a few weeks to months right after bottling unti...

With a caveat that I haven't been to NO in 5 years and a lot can change, for traditional NO/creole restaurants I liked Clancy's and Brigtsen's. On the modern side are August, Bayona, and Gautreau.

Chris, my opinion on Dom is similar. They really need 20 years to show their stuff. The 88 and 90 are killer now. Time will tell on the 02. I'm holding another 5 years before opening my first.

Patrick the 98 Pomerols and St Em tannins have softened and they are drinking well in general but are at different stages of evolution. As Ed said the Conseillante and VCC need more time. The others showed well but are likely to reward further cellaring with greater complexity. The Haut Brion and La...

Jim's using a bit of political license regarding the 1986 Mouton. It was declared the wine of the night but as to voting... Highlights for me were both Moutons with a slight preference for the completeness and lushness of the 82 over the power and finish of the 86, but I cant really argue with those...

BWE 18 Extracurricular Activities: March for Our Lives

Peggy and I left our hotel about 11:30 AM and walked 7-8 blocks to the entrance point at D and 7th. We then gradually worked our way along Pennsylvania Ave. towards the stage. My favorites were the 1995 Krug, 2001 Donnhoff Niederhauser Hermansholle Auslese and 2002? Prum Wehlehner Sonnenhur Auslese, the 1959 Charles Krug Cab, 1989 Beaucastel, and the 2001 Donnhoff Norheimer Dellchen Auslese Goldkapsel.

Roads around Baltimore were bad by noon, though the interstates should be passable. We're looking at 10-12 inches north and west of the city by morning. Looks like about 4-5 inches on the deck so far.

Re: What is your favourite vintage of Ch. Ducru Beaucaillou?

1982 bests the 1995 and 1996 IMO but the 1996 is still improving and will likely take the crown from 1982.

I can't comment on the 2000 because I somehow managed to not buy any.

Can't comment on the 2005 because mine are still resting.

So 1982 but not based on enough experience to be certain.
