Re: Lunch at Bistro du Coin

Part Two: Among the wines that the waiter showed us were a Cos d'Estournel and a Lynch Bages. But we all agreed that for $79, the 1985 Leoville Las Cases was simply an amazing buy. The wine was stunning, although it really should have been decanted a little beforehand in order to allow it to show it...

Saturday Night Pre-Dinner Drinks in Tim's Suite : 5101

Come-on over for some pre-dinner selections at our room, 5101, starting at 4pm. (Note, I don't have any food this time, so we'll have to make do with just some wine!).

Lunch at Bistro du Coin

Part One: Fantastic lunch today at Bistro du Coin. I believe it was Bill and Jan who had the first lunch there yesterday and discovered the 1998 Petit Cheval for only $99 on the menu. So five of us went today, and we immediately ordered the Petit Cheval. We also decided that we would order a second ...

Re: TNs: A quartet of lovely '82 Bordeaux and their friends

I'm quite surprised that the 82 Branaire Ducru never was awarded BWE Wine of the Year. Considering how it is performing in not one but multiple tastings and BWE events this year, 10 years after the NYC event, I would like to nominate it for 2012 WOTY.

A friend of mine was just in China, in a small village where wine had been non-existent, and he found shelves of Bordeaux wine selling there, generic stuff (i.e. no appellation even listed), for $40 a bottle. And people were buying it.

99 versus 00 Bordeaux: which is performing better?

Ok, that seems like a question that can be answered easily. What I'm really asking is: 99 versus 00 WHITE Bordeaux: which is performing better? I recall that the 99 Haut Brion Blanc was absolutely otherworldly. When recently in a retailer, I found he had two different vintages of Pape Clement Blanc:...
