Re: More wine fraud
we are trying to book as many Michelin restaurants in Paris and Bangkok as possible It is not Michelin starred, but try Perception (https://www.restaurant-perception.com/). Been there twice, highly recommended. Best wines seem to be on the Italian side though. And of course if you have time to meet...

I value BWE.
At work, we have a guiding principle of “assume positive intent.” I’d suggest that would be a good principle to apply here. Law is an adversarial system, wine shouldn’t be.

Trump likes to be fawned over but he doesn’t like to be upstaged. I doubt Vivek will get the VP nod. I am betting on Kari Lake.
Re: China
I have some (many) experience with China despite never visiting there myself. A few observations: 1. Chinese people are extremely proud of their history and their place in the world. They don't want to be the US. They want to be China. 2. Chinese people tolerate their system of government, not becau...

Re: President Trump
Why are these prosecutions so important? Trump has been living in the world of facts don't matter for so long that he has become adept at ignoring the rules completely. For him, there are no rules, only power. Courts are different, they have rules. And criminal courts are different than civil courts...

Also, Jim, I completely agree with you about the political ramifications of this. There is no doubt that these prosecutions will motivate his base and drive voter turnout on the right. And I also agree that people are not equal under the law. Prosecutors have discretion about who they charge and whe...

Re: President Trump
The man literally tried to overturn a Presidential election he lost. Do I think Clinton or Dubya committed crimes? Not in the same sense, no. And Trump committed many many many more crimes than the ones he was charged with. Fraud, sexual assault, bribery, the list is endless. Other countries are not...

Re: President Trump
The mug shot needed to be taken to demonstrate that status does not put you above the law. I don't think the left is gloating at all. The left doesn't believe that Trump will be held accountable for his crimes. He will get away with it. Populism often comes at the expense of the law. The fact that G...

I got it. Didn't lose smell or taste. Just lost my voice and had a horrible cough (no fever).
But then got an inner ear infection a few weeks later that had me in bed for almost a week.

Ugh. Talk about peer pressure, just bought a case. Which is the first case of wine I've purchased in... geez, a year at least? Maybe a couple years.
BWE, the site for wine purchase enabling.
And fwiw, $32.50 a bottle in France.

Re: President Trump
The threat of a nuclear war was a threat to the planet and life as we know it, so the US would cease to exist. But I find Trump being re-elected to be far more likely than nuclear Armageddon is or was, even in the 60s (though I did not live through that time). His re-election would destroy the U.S. ...

Howard's article is mostly focused on the attack on the Capitol and how Trump's speech influenced it. I've always been a bit skeptical that the "fight" phrase was considered instigation. Elizabeth Warren used it in her speeches all the time, for example. But the indictment really centers a...

I bought Neal Martin's book, mostly because it is so difficult to find information on older vintages. He does a good job of describing the conditions of various vintages. However I was surprised at how few tasting notes he has for older wines. That would have added additional depth to the work.

I must admit it is frustrating constantly hearing how misunderstood and wonderful Trump voters are, and how awful those libtards are who are trying to take away all their freedom. The Fox News chyron says it all: WANNABE DICTATOR SPEAKS AT THE WHITE HOUSE AFTER HAVING HIS POLITICAL RIVAL ARRESTED.
