TN: Jean Laurent BDB 1996 champagne

to celebrate, finally, closing on our beach condo we opened this lovely champagne. No flaws, full body, excellent length with lovely notes of yeast and toast. A winner! Only downer is that it was my last bottle :(

I went through a case quite happily of the 87 Lalande. Since 87 was a "bad" year, it was inexpensive. Good to see it's still drinking well.

I usually open 3 bottles. One for the glass in my left hand, one for the glass in my right amd one for mrs vino. This works well for other wines as well.

a reliable QPR in my book. The 2000 aged well in a double mag format-we opened it last year and it was quite nice...as you say, no real complexity but easy to quaff.

The 2001 Liot at Bassins is a good QPR for $26 (I think). I did see signs of seepage on a few so if you buy online, ask them to inspect your bottles. I also have had the 2005 which was also good and a bit cheaper. Does anyone have any info about this producer?

Re: TN: 2005 Domaine du Vieux Télégraphe Châteauneuf-du-Pape La Crau

IM very humble opinion, le crau's need significant time to show their stuff especially in good-great vintages. I had a 375 of the 98 a couple of years ago that was pretty tannic and tight even after decanting but with lots of promise. An old style CNDP, again, in my very humble opinion. Harry, pleas...

My last bottle wasn't good (my TN reflected this) so with some trepidation I opened another to accompany our grilled buffalo burgers. I've bought some wine from Daniel Posner and we've traded a few emails. He's not a Bordeaux fan and I hope to get together with him sometime and try to change his mind.
