Being low on popcorn wine, I popped a 2007 Trimbach Frederic Emil yesterday while we were watching a movie. If you have to drink a summertime white, this is the way to go.

Which vintage of Heritage 4, Mark? By coincidence, I am drinking a 2015 Heritage 4 right now with mushrooms and hangar steak. This is an excellent and very pure PN. Sure, it will not hit its peak for probably ten years, but it provides a lot of pleasure now.

Re: Some weekend wines

Some bottles we drank of 2003 Leoville Poyferre were very good; others not so much in recent years. The less good ones are disjointed and have too much stewed fruit. All of mine were bought on release and stored at 63-65F. Probably I should have moved mine to colder storage when they became teen age...

Re: Article on Wine Searcher summarizes the problems of 2022 Bordeaux.

I just bought some low priced Bordeaux for a large BBQ. I was surprised what was available for around $20--simple but reliable wines like Le Conseiller and Greysac. I don't see any CA Cabs for $20 that I would enjoy. And as Izak mentioned, at a higher level, wines like Meyney, Haut Marbuzet, Corbin ...

In the olden days Giscours made wine that would hold up for a long time. The other night we drank a 1966 that was in great shape. The concentration was still there but with tannins that were completely resolved.

Lucie and I drank 2001 Barde-Haut last night with left over steak because there was no 1983 Lynch-Bages left over from from the night before. Full bodied and aromatic with western spices, the wine was a good match for the rib eye. Modern, to be sure, but its right bank heritage showed. Good now and ...

I don't speak for all of BWE, my opinion is that you should send at least half the wine to OR. That will still be cheaper than a buying spree.

So is the BWE consensus is that I should go on a buying spree to prove that we need the wine cabinets for storage in order to keep Lucie from using the room for something else, and worry later about not having enough space for the wine we will eventually move from Texas?
