I can't give up white Burgundy completely, but now we drink them young. Lucie and I drank tonight an '02 Fevre Bougros that was singing. Still, if it avoids premox, this wine will be better in five years. But I won't know, as we have now drunk our last bottle.

That is a good sign, David.

I drink Margaux for the Margauxberries. If I want power, I'll drink a Pauillac.

Sounds like it does not taste like a Margaux, David. While it is nice that Lascombes is now making good wine, I wish that the estate were making good Margaux wine.

Tonight after watching the Aggies get tromped, we ate fettuccine topped with mushrooms, spinach and garlic, and we drank 2000 Bouchard Clos de la Mousse. At Dry Creek Kitchen, a Charlie Palmer restaurant in Healdsburg, we started with an off the menu sparkler: 1999 Robert Hunter Blanc de Noir. Thanks, guys.

The Le Mesnil was not a Krug. There is a small Champagne house called Le Mesni which produces a Blanc de Blancs that is all Grand Cru. I had never drunk one before (and, given Lucie's reaction to it, probably never will again).
