Re: President Trump

Love the song! My favorite Harris commercials are those that are clips from Trump's public speeches. OTOH, I wonder about emphasizing how bad Trump is without talking up Harris' good points. It reminds me of the Pope's (implied) endorsement of Harris: "Vote for the lesser evil". How can a ...

2014 Clerc Milon

I finally bought some 2014 Bordeaux after it looked like I would be around long enough to drink some. Today Lucie found a Bison ribeye, so I opened a 2014 to pair with the grilled meat, asparagus, and turnip mashed potatoes. The Clerc Milon is a good and typical old school Pauillac, with lots of cas...

Maybe what I have to offer is also worse than a '93 Batailley despite that fact that, according to WineSearcher, its current price is $457.

While D'Armailhac is not the best 5th growth Pauillac, in my experience it is the most consistently good one.

Re: 2009 Chateau Calon Segur has been uncorked and other ramblings....

For lunch I opened one of the worst St Innocent Momtazi. Lucie liked it with mushrooms over pasta, but I found it too thin and acidic with my mushrooms over mashed potatoes. I Repoured more than half a bottle and we are drinking it with turkey burgers and oven fries. The extra air time definitely he...

That was a superior tasting even by your exhalted standards, Ian. It's great that the 1966 haut-Brion has held up so well and interesting that the 1990 is on a par with the 1989.

Yesterday Lucie and I celebrated our 56th anniversary by ourselves at home after a less than stellar dinner out the night before. Goodfellow Chardonnays are excellent; better than the St Innocent IMO, and I buy the SI FH Chardonnay every year. The Whistling Ridge Vineyard is very fine, but the entire range of Marcus' Chardonnays are really, really good. With age you can easily mistake some Whistling Ridge for Puligny.

Nice tasting you had, Mark. That's a lot of wines to keep track of. Are you buy any of these for laying down? The only 2020 I have tasted was La Croix du Casse. It is an excellent value at $32, but it will take quite some time for the oak to integrate with the powerful blackberries. If I could proje...

Most 2010 Brunello has drunk well from a young age. Nevertheless, they will last for a long time.
