Re: 2020 Chateau La Lagune revisited: This wine is absolutely gorgeous....

Jim,

I have advocated for La Lagune for many years now. This property is an incredible value for money!

For me, 2019 and 2020 are similarly excellent but maybe 2020 is slightly more concentrated. Still, you just wait for 2022 when in bottle. It may be the best one ever for La Lagune.

Re: 2020 Troplong Mondot

Farr Vintners hasn't had Beausejour DL on the list since the 2016 vintage. Strange. Here in Denmark, TM was some 23 £ cheaper than BDL in the 2022 vintage. Both were the same price in previous vintages. BDL changed hands and got a new winemaker in 2021. One who worked with Maxime Cheurlin at a famed...

Re: 2020 Troplong Mondot

I have the 2018, 2019, 2020, and they have fabulous potential. These wines perhaps represent the best vfm in St-Emilion because the terroir is superb. And now the oak/gloss/extraction has been dialled down to sensible levels the terroir can shine through I disagree. For me Beausejour (Duffau Lagarr...

I can imagine 2019 being a better wine.

stefan, you are so right. Clive Coates was very diplomatic in his description of a wine. He overused the expression "very good indeed". If I were to grade the wines in terms of quality, it would look like this: 1. Eternal, unforgettable 2, Majestic, fantastic, exceptional 3. Excellent, tre...

Foie gras is not salty enough, and its fatness doesn't go well with the abundant sweetness of LTB 2003.

Stefan is perfectly right for this wine to accompany salty cheeses like sheep and goat cheese. I would also pair it with smoked salmon, oysters, crab, shrimp, and even lemon sorbet and ice cream.

Niclasss, You seem to state the truth based on having tasted one wine. Try to taste both Beausejours in recent vintages, and you will know better. Yes, they are more expensive. Niclasss,

You tasted wines from lower ranks.

I have actually tasted Larcis Ducasse 2006 and partly agree with your TNs, but it was not as that bad as you describe. 2006 was a Cabernet year, and Merlot failed on the Right Bank.

It would be better to taste several wines in the same vintage.

Yes, I did, but it was meant as "some", meaning a minority of winemakers and lower-classified wines.
