Re: St. Innocent package deals with free shipping

Bill, let me know what you think about the VC. If you are a wineclub member there is an even deeper discount. The few 2007's that I have tried have been good in a leaner style and are quite a contrast to the ripe 2006's.

St. Innocent package deals with free shipping

I just got this email. As some of you may know I love St. Innocent wines both red and white. These are all good deals which include free ground shipping or 50% off on air. I went for the Weekender which includes a fine midweek Pinot Noir and a top notch Dijon clone Chardonnay, and a dry and minerall...

Blanqito, I have finished off my case of Cantemerle and it is a fine wine. If you want to win the hearts of the Burgundy lovers, then bring La Dominique. The nose is stunning. Better than the roasted fruit 1990.

Pappadoc, you have named 2 of my favorite Bordeaux QPR deals, namely 1995 Clos de l'Oratoire for $5.99 in an oppurtunistic bankrupt license liquidation at a NJ Bottle King and 1996 Lagrange for $18.99 that I am sure was mispriced instead of the full markup of $38.99. Truck backed up.

I gorged on Sushi a couple of weeks ago at the new and hip all you can eat in town. Reno must be the all you can eat Sushi capital of the USA as seemingly every Sushi restaurant here offers it. Courtesy of some friends I had tasted several wines from the Sierra Foothills prior to this trip and found the wines to be of interest, especially the Italian and Rhone varietals and blends. Some of these wines can even be found on the shelves of local supermarkets in Reno. We enjoy Renwood Barbera ...

Re: Some thoughts on Red Burgundy Vintages

I bought and tasted my first Domainne Drouhin Oregeon(DDO) wine in the early to mid 1990's. It was a PN from their first vintage 1988, and while I felt at the time that is was a decent wine, I did not have an epiphany moment. I believe that this vintage was made from purchased fruit. This was only m...

I have been a big fan of the 1989's since early on. Two decades of cellar time has done them well.

Angelus and Pichon Baron(yes, a former WS WOTY) are stunning as is Montrose. I will pop Pichon Lalande on my birthday in a couple of months. I look forward to seeinng the latest tasting results.

Good haul Bill. I have 51 bottles of St I so I decided to diversify my incoming Pinots a bit and branched out into mostly Dehlinger, Rhys and Le Cadeau and give Oregon 2006 a buying break for now. 2006 was a tricky vintage due to the high heat, and some vineyards faired better than others. I poured a Grand Cru down the drain

This was another white Burgundy disaster courtesy of 1996 Brocard Chablis Les Clos. The usual clues were apparent, first the peroxide treated cork with the blueish gray tint on the bottom, the golden color as I poured into the glass, and the butterscotch influenced nose. I took a small taste and spi...

The word on the net on this wine is that there is a very high TCA rate. Fortunately this bottle was pristine which was a good feeling after cellaring it for 15 years including a cross country move. The premoxed white Burg issue really sucks. I am down to a measly 9 bottles remaining and have been experiencing poor results lately. My days of buying white Burgundy are over. Jim needs to try some Oregon Pinots. St. Innocent is one of my favorite producers. The 2006's are from a warm vintage with some wines that really hit the mark combining richness with good acidity and moderate structure, while some others can be a bit flabby.

The bright acidity of the 2004's is definetly the style that I adore.
