I still don't have my 05 Burgs.

Chris, 30 years is too long. Looks like the bands are not yet lined up for Fibark. http://www.fibark.net/. I'm only a few blocks from the stage. I'm sure we could make it that far after a few bottles.

Under cover of darkness: 2005 Mas de Boislauzon

Thought I'd honor the BWE CdP edict with this last-minute entry. $32 locally. Nice "bowling alley" aromas (urethane, lane oil, doctor scholls). Pretty subdued in the mouth. Not a heavy or even large-scaled wine, it has a fairly high tannin/fruit ratio, although it's not tannic by Bordeaux ...

Re: TNs 07 Strub Niersteiner Paterberg Spatlese, 05 Vouvray

I wouldn't say this is die zaubervin (ach! die zauberwein) but it's definitely a nice wine. I got it from Zachy's last month. Pat You're welcome to try some and take a couple of bottles if you come this way. I suggest Fibark or the Colorado Rondebrew. I'm bummed I didn't get chosen in the Tour de Ro...

TNs 07 Strub Niersteiner Paterberg Spatlese, 05 Vouvray

I got both these wines from Zachy's "buy a case free shipping" promotion, for $17.50 and $12 respectively. The Strub seemed a bit one-dimensional the first night. Good stuffing, nice balance, decent acidity, but not showing much complexity or flamboyance. Plenty of CO2 however. On the seco...

TN 2000 Ch. Petit Fombrauge; 1999 Clos Montirius le Clos

The St. Emilion was very good. Don't recall having had it before, and it might be the lone bottle. After about 30 minutes in the decanter this opened up to a fleshy, mild wine that nevertheless retained good acidic and tannic spine. The first glass gave a kind of strange waxy taste but this came aro...

Bill I had a 14 year old basset who was just geezing out on me (enlarged heart for one) and one day he just kind of blew out and stopped eating, and could not digest even the little food that retained some taste appeal to him. We did an ultrasound and found a nasty looking thing in the general area ...

Just another very good 01 right banker. This still has plenty of structure but is very enjoyable now. There is quite a bit of influence from the the wood though. If you'd served it to me and said it was from a more reputed vintage like 00 or 98 I'd have nodded in agreement.

Re: The world is crashing, but Carruades holding firm

Conservatively-run establishments will probably be discounting their lower-priced inventory. Only overextended joints will blow out the cherished stuff in desparation. Still, unless Berananke has some trick up his sleeve, even the good stuff will succumb. With Citi at one, and GE at seven, it seems ...

I've resampled a few of my 05s and either they've changed or I have. It started a couple of months ago when I tried a bottle of that really dreadful Ch. Bel Air, CdC,...
