Re: 15% alcohol, and no worry?

I am always bothered by 15% alcohol, especially in Bordeaux. Sometimes I lower the level slightly by diluting with water from my reverse osmosis machine. If highly classified Bordeaux estates feel it is OK to concentrate their grape juice, why shouldn't the consumer restore it to its natural state?...

Re: Barolo Communes & Single Crus

Fascinating tasting Ian, seems like all the wines, including the simple Nebbiolos and Langhe showed well. And I agree about them needing a lot less time to show well.
Enjoy your trip, and in truffle season no less! I can't wait to read about your impressions.

Re: Barolo Communes & Single Crus

Beautiful, thank you for this Chateau Vin, but I have a problem with single vineyard nebbiolos. I just don't think the terroirs is distinctive enough to justify the premium in price. As opposed to Burgundy where Grand Crus and 1er crus were designated a few hundred years ago, Barolo and Barbaresco o...

Re: St.Emilion's new classification has been published...

In a way that leaves Burgundians speechless, estates in Saint Emilion with different statuses have merged while retaining that which is most advantageous. Could you imagine a Grand Cru in the Côte de Nuits annexing a Premier Cru and rebaptizing it Grand Cru? Anyway, Pavie has absorbed Pavie-Decesse...

Glad you were in NYC Jacques and hope the damage is not all that bad. Thanks, we were supposed to be there for two days en route to Israel but ended up staying a week. Thanks for checking, we were in NYC when we heard we have some water damage from a leak in the roof so we canceled our trip to Israel. We will go back to Sarasota Monday to assess the extent of the problem, but it looks like mainly our floor and some of the furniture may be ruined. The important thi...

I still have some 2013 Fevre Bougros, we drank a bottle of that last week and it was delicious but not as rich as one would expect from a Grand Cru, I bet you'll like the 2014 Billaud Simon 1er better.

I have a soft spot for this estate, I find the style soft and elegant. I used to like La Gomerie better but now find that a little too cloying.

Jill and I visited the grounds in June 2017, I still have a case of the 2005 Beausejour Becot I have not opened yet

That's a wonderful line-up, great wines and excellent producers. All vintages in Burgundy are good imo, but they are different from each other. I still like my real-estate-is-mostly-likely-path-to-billion-dollars strategy, which Jacques corroborated with his algorithm a couple years ago. Yeah, no. You’re not leveraged enough. The classic buy low, sell high mantra suggests we should sell our wine and invest the proceeds in stocks. Something...
