TN: 2001 Chateau Faugeres St. Emilion
This was the last of several bottles I bought when I found this at around $25 shortly after release. In looking back, I have drunk these over the last 5 years and each bottle has provided enjoyment, and it's fun to look at my cryptic comments that follow the wine's development. My first comment allu...

Re: TN: 2007 Château de Saint-Cosme Côtes du Rhône Les Deux Albion
Rick,
I did not get the Les Deux Albion at Binny's - got it at my little neighborhood wine shop. In the past Binny's has carried it. You should ask if they have it or expect it. Sometimes they have wines at the warehouse and hold them back trying to clear older stuff off the floor.

I was very impressed with this wine when I opened it about a month ago. I posted a TN here at the time; I need to figure out how to embed links in these postings. With all that has been written about the 1999 vintage (Palmer excepted), I did not expect a lot. So I was very pleasantly surprised. And ...

Thanks for the TN on this. I always look for this wine at a good price when I'm shopping for CdRs. I just recently bought 6, but have not tasted any yet, so your notes are encouraging. I just opened my last 2005 of this wine within the past week, and it was very enjoyable.

Stefan,
I think you should crack your case of 1999 LB and try one. I opened one about a month ago (posted here somewhere) and found it very enjoyable with some airtime to open up. It's not at any risk of being past its prime anytime soon, but certainly can be enjoyed now.

David, Well, I experimented a bit with the image I was trying to upload, which was 318 K, not that much larger than your photo. I cropped the image to reduce it significantly to less that 100 K. It uploaded with no problem. So it appears to be some sort of size limit, either with the site or with my...

OK, this is why I like Bordeaux wines! I opened the first couple of bottles of my 6-pack in early 2007. WSJ critics are thumbs down on 2006 first growths
I just saw an article that was dated Saturday in the online Wall Street Journal. The regular critics (Gaiter and Brecher) were pretty down on the 2006 firsts, describing them as green and vegetal. I think they paid around $600 per bottle. At that price, some inexpensive wines recently reviewed here ...

Rick, I've had this wine a couple of times. I bought it when Binny's had it on sale for around $10. I went back and bought a case as fast as I could. Glad to hear about your experience with the '98 Quinault. I bought a few bottles of that in a mixed case I got for my brother-in-law, whose son was born in that year. We have yet to find a celebratory occasion to sample any of the wines. So your notes are a nice reference point.
