Chapoutier Hermitage Monier de la Sizeranne flight - 2006 and 2009
I had a few bottles of this wine from the 1990 and 1995 vintages that I really enjoyed. Back in the mid/late 1990s, these could be had for about $30. They are about 4 times that today for the 2015 vintage. :(

Re: The Trial, a poll

Based on what happened, I cannot see how anything other than a conviction of manslaughter, at minimum, would have been reasonable. If the copy had restrained him for 2 minutes while getting him cuffed and whatever, that is totally different. He was imposing his own form of justice, which is not the ...

Surprised it was that quick. I spent 8 hours on a jury deliberating a DWI charge that, based on technical definition, was a no brainer. We finally got it right, but it was like herding cats.

Re: So what have you bought lately?

Those look like awfully good prices based on others I've seen. Is wine.com pricing consistently very good, or is it just occasional promotions? And how is their service? I saw ratings somewhere that showed them not being rated very high (actually pretty poorly).

Blanquito:
$882 per 6 pack seems expensive for a 5th Growth, that’s more like (super) second pricing.

Thanks for the info on the "experimental" grapes. The Ducru sounds like a lovely wine. Another example from what seems like a much better vintage than many initially thought.

Domaine Drouhin wines from Roserock Vineyard?

For those of you familiar with Oregon wines, what is your take on Domaine Drouhin's Pinot and Chardonnay from the Roserock Vineyard? They are a bit less costly than the regular Drouhin bottlings, and they appear to get pretty favorable reviews from the very few I've seen.

Re: What are we drinking in lockdown?

A corked 2000 Grand Puy Lacoste! What a disappointment to cellar a wine for 20 years and find it corked. I know it happens; it's happened to me with other older wines. But it's always such a disappointment. I popped the first bottle of this from a case a few weeks back, and thought it was very good....

Re: Favorite New World wine(s)?

I admit to not having recent personal experience with Cali Chardonnays, but unless the ones I tasted 10 or so years ago have undergone a major character makeover, I'm in Jal's camp regarding Chablis and Bourgogne in the same (or lower) price range.

I've much enjoyed Ridge's Lytton Springs and Geyserville in the past, but have not purchased any since the 2006 vintage. When the prices went from +/- $30 to over $35, it was harder for me to pull the trigger relative to some Bordeaux and Chateauneufs in a similar price range. These days, my favorit...

Glad it turned out well for you, Howard. I opened a 95 GPL a couple of weeks back. After a couple of hours in a decanter, it was still fairly tight. Though it can be coaxed to be very good now, I think it will be even better in another 5, or even 10, years.

1995 Grand Puy Lacoste - so this was quite the wine experience. Decanted for 3+ hours, this wine was still somewhat tight, though you could get a good sense of what it was all about.
