Interesting story, Alex. I just went on Winesearcher, and it looks like this wine does not make to the US. Perhaps that will change in the coming years.

Glad it worked out for you. Great choice of wine - my case gets delivered this week. And glad you've discovered Saratoga. I probably buy 80-90% of my wines from them these days. The rest comes from Empire Wines, also in NY, and also good service.

Re: 2019 Chateau Cantemerle.... Best Cantemerle ever.

esl, you might want to "experiment" with a shipment of inexpensive wines from Saratoga. I live in Michigan, and though many shops around the country will not ship to Michigan, Saratoga does, as well as Empire Wines in NY. Fedex always has to check that I'm 21 even though I look most of my ...

I saw that article, and it was discouraging. I'd like to think that, when push comes to shove, people will let go of individual differences of opinion to vote for what is the better overall choice for what's good for them. Regarding our governor, she is term limited, so who knows what she plans to d...

We had company for dinner last night, so I decided to open this wine to go with steak au poivre. This has been a controversial wine on this site with opinions kind of all over the place. I've drunk several bottles over the years, and I think the wine last night was the best I have experienced with i...

Re: So what should I buy

From what I have read recently, 2022 should be the one to buy - when it is available. Have not purchased any reds from 20 or 21, but whites have been pretty good. IIRC, 2021 was a small harvest due to frost.

Stefan, are the Winery Direct wines worth investigating? I've always been a bit suspicious that their markup on those wines is the way they make money.

Jim, based on the 2002's I've opened recently, I think it would be very good now, perhaps with a decant. Of course, it could possibly be good for some years to come. I have only a few 2002's left, and plan to drink them the next couple of years (unless one of them surprises me with its youth).

After a brief affair with some Argentine wines about 15 years ago, I swore off of them. Based on your experiences, it sounds like there may be some hope for wines from there...

I do think that the BWE WOTY should be a wine that is readily available on a broad basis. And for me, that means a fairly recent vintage - perhaps the past 3 or 4 vintages that have been released. For example, I know I can still purchase many 2018s without a lot of searching.

Currently I have about 2/3 of my wines in an offsite storage and 1/3 at home in a passive storage area. What I've been adding is mostly not Bordeaux since I've got quite a bit at or n...

Kind of amazing how the BWE family lives on after over 20 years. I know from my occasional visits to "annual" dinners that it's like seeing old friends again. I don't get much opportunity to participate in the events of the past several days, but it's fun to live them vicariously.
