Imho, 2020 La Lagune is as typical Bordeaux as it can be.
I stand by my observation. Was it bottle variation? Don't know but I know what I experienced.

2015 La Lagune vs. 2020 La Lagune

Last week I drank two La Lagunes both from hot vintages. With 2015 LL I found the weight to be a medium plus but not fruit dominated. It was balanced with firm tannins and sufficient acidity. It was complex with many years before it reaches its peak. It has the typical characteristics of a young bor...

I took my wife out for her birthday last week and brought her favorite Chateau. This is not a full review because of the nature of restaurants but it will give you some useful information. From my experience it has some years to go before maturity. The Som offered to decant but I refused. Decanting ...

Re: So what have you bought lately?

I believe after vintage 2016 I made the promise not to buy anymore new Bordeaux because by the time it is properly aged, the odds are that I'll be timed out. You will be happy to know this is the fourth vintage that I broke said promise. No big deal, I like young and old. Sounds a little prevy. Went...

A Modest Proposal

First, I am not taking sides. I really don't want to know what this cluster fuck is about. BWE is bigger than anyone one person. It would be a shame to see it go the way of the dinosaurs. This is my proposal. 1. Jim should transfer ownership to the code to either Bill J. or Jacques. A person above t...

Personally, I was underwhelmed by the 2001. I admit that I have had few aged 2001s. Regarding 2000, I bought heavily and have no regrets. I also agree with Arv, the 2001 Sociando M. for my tastes is not pleasant whereas other vintages are winners for this property.

Re: Again, the glorious 2016 vintage

Totally agree with Nic. The 2016 have as yet closed down and remain enjoyable. I suspect this is the new trend in wine making, accessible but with aging potential. What remains to be seen is will it age as projected? I bet that it will. For what it's worth, I was a buyer of the 2016 and don't regret...

I like the 2016 Lafon and as I remember it is accessible but, as with many modern Bordeaux, it has aging potential. It's well balanced, with good acidity, so I think this is easily a 20 year wine.

2016 Chauvin at Costco. For low $40s. Strictly an impulse buy. If I see any 2016 I buy it. In this case I bought a lone bottle to taste after my January wine fast. Anyone know anything about it?

Happy New Years everyone. Last night we had a wind storm after 2 inches of rain in 20 hours. Guests over 45 mph. An Italian Cypress uproot and crashed into the house. Some damage but it landed in the perfect place. The wine cellar was spared and nobody was injured, but it was a loud boom.
