Re: BWE Denver 2019 Friday wine planner

After digging through the top crust of the "Pile O' Wine" ™,I came up with 1998 Guado al Tasso and 2006 Paolo Bea Sagratino Pagliaro. I think I'm running the risk of being shunned by the Cabernet and Burg tables...

Re: TN: 2000 La Lagune

The entire 1982 vintage is the poster child for undermining the "can't make old bones" adage.

My take on La Lagune is that they generally don't up their game that much in the best vintages. Just go about their business., making excellent wine.

Bland, generic red wine on first taste - I could easily find hundreds of better reds from France, Italy, Spain or the US for less than this wine's $30 tariff in the same store.

Maybe a breather in a decanter is in order...

The Rudy wine has been uncorked!

No, seriously, the Rudy 2015 North Coast Cabernet Sauvignon. The back label says the "wines share the pedigree of the von Strasser signature label", a producer I've always found reliable on a restaurant wine list. Don't know if this is brilliant - the branding already has everyone talking ...

Honestly, I don't feel like there are a lot of real deals out there right now, once you get past the consistent bargain price stuff like Lanessan. It feels like there's been a major run up in wine prices over the last 12-18 months, with Burgundy of course leading the charge but Bordeaux prices gett...

After opening a bottle, I can understand both the love and the less than loving reactions. It seems to already be closing up a bit. The 91's and 92's should be fine, as they are pre-premox vintages. Plus they're old enough that any oxidation is simply "ox". 8-)

From my experience, premox is very real. When one starts their wine tasting life drinking beautiful, expressive 25 year old Grand Cru and and 15 year old Premier Cru white burgs, then proceeds to taste 7-10 year old GC and PC burgs produced after 1995 or so that are completely over the hill, that's ...

Arv, the normale (i.e., non cru) bottling is usually quite delicious and approachable on release but ages very well. Without tasting the 2015 I'd still expect it to last many years.
