I've had the 2002 PR BdB four or five times over the last 4 years, having bought good stash of it from PC. And I am inclined to agree with David, I think this is a comparatively early maturing Pol Roger compared to older vintages (but I am finding that true of the 02s in general) and as such it is c...

I agree with 99.358 percent of what Winona Chief said. Just give me young Dom Perignon and shut up. I’ll never taste a Dom vertical like what Stuart drinks. Re: BUYING WINES DURING THE 2020 BUYING MORATORIUM

How well does Repour work on old and delicate wines extra sensitive to oxygen? Also, does each Repour work only once? I gave up on my Coravin because it only seemed to work well on the young, vigorous wines that my freezer method works well for. But if Repour is just as good with fully mature bottle...

I love my Zaltos. I use the Zalto Bordeaux stem for most reds. Gabriel Glas Gold is my white wine stem and the Zalto white is my champagne stem. Ha, I resemble that remark. The 08 Dom is delicious now, in case that was lost in my review, but it is a long ways from its peak, let alone full maturity. And based on my sampling, I am of the position that will be (much) better at peak than it is today.

2008 Dom Perignon

All the chatter made me pull one of these out for test drive to see what all the fuss is about... Scents of musk flowers, lime and ginger, quite fresh without any yeast or brioche. The palate is extra zesty and coiled, with layers and layers extract and a super long, mouth-coating finish. Quite dry....

The tannins in 2005 are definitely tar-like, which if you don't like should make most of 2005s unattractive at present. For whatever reason, most of the critics seem to think soft, ripe tannins are a good thing, a la 1982 or 1990. I think, if the best case scenario works out, those two heralded vint...

What I liked about the 05 Cantemerle was its easy balance and savory, mineral-infused profile. It’s medium bodied with a distinctly tarry note from the soft, ripe tannins. Nothing forced or over extracted here. Restrained and classy, but too tannic for be full-on elegant. After a few hours of air th...

I'm not the world's biggest Rioja fan, but I am probably the world's biggest 1964 vintage fan, and 1964 Riojas are great. Lively, full of fruit, and as affordable as 55 year old fine wine gets. Bravo Patrick! I remember a tasting we did in NYC probably a bit more than a decade ago of mature LDH, and some of them showed sensationally well, especially the 1970 and 1973 Tondonias, the latter I managed to pick up at auction recently.
