Re: So what have you bought lately?

What are your recommendations from 2013 italy, BN?
Gerry, I'm hoping to get more Brane and some d'Issan on the way back from Logan when I come back from Paris, on the last day of the sale.

Re: 2015 Domaine De Chevalier

I don’t think I tried the 2009 but I think that note posted by Patrick sounds right on. It’s like it’s too perfect. Too slick. They are just a little too cute with their technique. It is Parkerized. Modern. No soul. No character. It’s just another pretty face. Sometimes a rough edge here and there g...

The few times I have tried Chevalier from other vintages I have found it without personality. Manufactured. Boring.
It’s never on my must-purchase list.

Re: Two cases of 2015 Chateau Canon

Thanks Stefan, looking forward to a little break.
It's been an insane year.
We're gonna be there 6 nights.
It's my 60th birthday, Timmy's 50th birthday, and Alex is retiring.
That calls for a celebration!
Rumors have it that some guests from the UK and Canada are going to be in the area as well....

Re: Two cases of 2015 Chateau Canon

It's been a really good week, my cadiac cath went beautifully yesterday, no blockages, all my organs, kidneys, liver, etc., in good shape, cholesterol still too high but we're gonna add another drug to the mix. A huge relief on the cardiac issue, we thought we had some concerns there. We are flying ...

Re: Two cases of 2015 Chateau Canon

Ha that is actually a mixed case of Lafite, Jean-Fred, I think there are 7 bottles of the '96 still in there. I wish I had bought more at the $180 I paid back in 2000 in western Mass. They had like 20 cases sitting there, I bought like a case and I remember bringing 3 bottles to JScott at BWE Chicag...

Re: Two cases of 2015 Chateau Canon

Ha I will use the same strategy with these cases that I am employing with my case of Lafite: I'll drink them (with BWEers) in my old age. If for some reason I need to sell them, I don't expect they'll decline in value. Man, I'm beat, been up since 5:30am, I felt like I put in a full day before court...

Re: Two cases of 2015 Chateau Canon

I got the tip yesterday from Gerry. I called the Hampton North store. The inventory said 23 bottles, but the clerk, Debbie, couldn’t find them on the shelves. She was closing up shop at 9pm, I told her that I really wanted every bottle they had in stock, whether it was 1 or 23. I told her I could be...

Highly recomend you do, danzur. This wine gave me the "wow" that I expected from the Leoville Barton but didn't quite achieve. And it is an 11 on the dial to the Giscours 10. An instant BWE favorite for 2018 Wine of the Year. The hallmark for me was the incredible balance. It has that 2015...

Re: 2015 Brane Cantenac

Yeah, I have five bottles of the 2005 in my cellar, it is great. I was really stunned by the 2015, it was such a balanced wine, strength and finesse. It had everything... nose, structure, not overdone with the alcohol, the wood was beautifully integrated. And the price is rational. Mmmm. Looks like ...

I'm not going to go into the whole modernization debate. This wine has great balance, Margaux character, very, very...

Can’t read too much into that, though, can we?
It seems to me we have seen a lot of vintages with heavy oak immediately upon release.
(The 2000 Pape Clement was almost unprintable at the very beginning.)
What is the alcohol percentage?

The following four appear sideways, with the tops of the bottles leaning to the left. This is always the case with your pictures. Don't ask me why, but, ...
