What do you like from Chianti?

I had a 2012 Felsina Berardenga Riserva ($24), I thought it was nice, is that a good wine?

Re: 2012 La Fleur de Bouard revisited.

I have drunk about four 750s and about 18 half bottles of this wine. I have yet to be disappointed. It is a really nice easy wine that consistently hits a low-90s spot for me.

for my taste not better than when it was younger and fruitier. It does not show signs that it will develop into a complex and interesting old wine in, say, ten years, so I don't see the point in holding it. Exactly my experience with the 2005 Haut Bergey. 2005 and 2012 Haut Bergey: Let me tell you a little secret..

First of all, let me tell you something: 2012 Haut Bergey is a nice little wine. Don't age it. Just drink it, for crying out loud. 2005 Haut Bergey: I'm sure there will be like 100% disagreement with me here, but nonetheless: This wine was better in its infancy. 2005 Haut Bergey has shown no improve...

Yes, although that is generally when they are doing their big new vintage events, that's why Jeff Leve can never make it. But I agree, a Cali v Bordeaux event is in order.

Yes Ian it is definitely young and modern. But I'm pretty sure I would recognize it as Bordeaux, from the nose and the color alone. I find the purple of Margaux and its surroundings to be quite distinctive. This wine has a Cantemerlishness about it, I wonder how far apart the two properties are. Ver...

2004 Malescot St. Exupery

Cracked open the case, popped, and poured. Still very youthful. Deep, dark purple/black color. The bouquet bloomed beautifully. It borders on a "big" wine to me. Earthy, has the type of edge to it that we would come to expect from the 2004 vintage. It seems like a nice merging between trad...
