I liked your post Ian. So my vote is a value pick. La Lagune. I drink much more LL than Pichon L.

It appears that Domaine St. Martin is the winery and Patrick Lesec is the negotiant. So I was wrong the wine did come from DSM. Lesec buys the wine from from DSM. Sorry for the misinformation.

Jimmy, I tend to like Oregon Chardonnay because most have little or minimal oak. I like mine crisp and minerally.

Bday wine 2003 Domaine St. Martin Chambertin-Clos de Bèze

Celebrated my 71 birthday by going to dinner with Linda and taking a 2003 Domaine St. Martin Chambertin-Clos de Bèze. Patrick Lesec is a Burgundy negociant so I have no idea who made this wine. Of course 2003 was problematic so I had no idea what was in the bottle. The Som destroyed the cork, it had...

I like SI's Chardonnays. They are reasonably priced for summer quaffing. They generally are more on the mineral side with clean fruit and minimum oak. No butter! I much prefer Willamette Chardonnays to Cali. I also like Walter Scott, Goodfellow, and Haden Fig (Evesham Woods).

2019 Faury Cote-Rotie.

I've had Faury's Cote-Rotie in the past so I when I saw this bottle at the local store I grabbed it. This is a beautiful wine and, I suspect, this is in the BWE wheelhouse. It's a Kermit Lynch import and priced around $70 a bottle. Faury uses only 20% new barrels so the oak influence is minimal. It ...

If you guys want something cheap and not overdone, buy some wines from Castillon, Puisseguin St Emilion and Montagne St. Emilion. Fronsacs will do nicely as well.

I thought it was a well made bottle of Bordeaux. Modern in style. Medium plus body and as mentioned low acidity. At $40.00 a bottle it does not seem to be a value purchase anymore as there are many really fine wine in that price range. Yes, 18s seems to be rich, dark, very ripe and low acidity.

The critics seem to be raving about this wine (90-95). I admit, it is a well made wine and if you are into modern, Cali styled Margaux, this is your wine. I read one critic say this is an elegant wine; not for me. This is either a heavy mid-weight or a light heavy weight. It is a full bodied Margaux...
